Abstract
This paper sequentially examines (1) the definition of logical framework, (2) the benefits of
using logical framework in a project, and (3) how to design a logical framework. Logical
framework is defined as a logically coherential and consistent step-by-step processes to reach
out the purposes. Applying logical framework in the planning of project would make that
project in a very clear state, because we can see the harmony of all activities towards the project
purposes. When all the activities are in line towards the purposes, this would make us easier to
monitor and evaluate if something do not work out. In this study, we will use input-process-
output model (that is usually called as IPO model) as our logical framework.

1. Definition of Logical Framework

Logical framework is a logically coherential and consistent
step-by-step processes to reach out the purposes. It mapped
out all of the activities towards our purposes in a sequential,
systematical, and methodological steps. Logical framework
are commonly used in planning a project or programme.

2. Benefits of Logical Framework

When we apply logical framework in project or programme
planning, it would make the project or programme in a very
clear state, because we can see the harmony of our activities Figure 1. Logical framework using input-process-output (IPO) model.
