What is an Organisational Waste? 5 points

A waste that is completed or obtained that is not necessary to support a process or

successfully complete an activity. A waste that can appear in numerous forms and
frequently leads to increased time consumption or misused financial resources.

Give three examples of Organisational Waste and explain briefly 5 points

1. Overproduction - Overproduction is the practice of producing an output in excess of what

is necessary. In manufacturing processes, where products are frequently manufactured and
stocked for eventual sale, avoiding overproduction can be difficult.
2. Waiting - The delayed action of waiting occurs until another productive action is taken on
the produced item. Each stage in the process of creating a good or providing a service adds
value to the end result, which in turn creates the final product that the client is willing to pay
for. Waiting typically adds little value because the products are waiting for future action.
3. Transporting - Moving a thing from one place to another is referred to as transporting.
Moving products from one place to another could be necessary in a manufacturing
environment, but sometimes it happens because of a bad physical layout. The process of
back-and-forth movement increases the probability of accidents and product damage,
spends more money and time in fuel.
