9. Rapid growth and over-expansion

10. Improve or focus research and development

Based on the activity you have answered above, how many strategies have you
identified that could potentially result in business failure? How can you turn
these failures into success?

1. Inadequate uniqueness and value

Inadequate uniqueness and value could be potentially result in business failure
because lacking of uniqueness and value of a product can cause customers look for
another product that is really acceptable for them to buy it. We know if we buy
something we should buy the good product that we feel happy to buy it.

2. Poor financial management

Poor financial management can make it difficult to meet in business obligations as
they fall due. For instance, you may be unable to pay your business bills as they
fall due, it will affect the smooth running of your business. Moreover, inability to
meet recurrent business expenses can hurt your business growth. Furthermore, if
you have high debt profile, it will be difficult for you to access loans from lenders.

3. Dysfunctional leadership

Leadership is one of the most important factors determining the success of a

business/company. Dysfunctional leadership can seriously affect employee morale
and even cause the business/company’s bottom line to plunge. Dysfunctional
leadership leads to poor employee retention and demotivates the remaining
employees, causing them to be much less productive than they would otherwise be.

Ink, Link to Sink In (2)

Below are scenarios that require decisions. Make a decision based on
intuition and analysis. Justify your explanation.
1. The hiring manager has to decide who among the two applicants should be
hired. Candidate A gives a nice impression as soon as she introduced her name
during the job interview, while Candidate B has a very admirable educational
background and has relevant work experience.
Explain who among the two should be hired based on intuition and based on
analysis (non-intuitive) and why.

Based on intuition:
- I think candidate b must be hired by the manager because as stated in the
description above the candidate b has a very admirable educational
background and has relevant work experience.

Based on analysis:
- If I’ll be a manager I will hired the candidate b because that is the type of
person that I needed to my company/business that there is no need to tell
something how he/she manage the company/business. Everything the
works will flow nicely and continually if the hired person is having an
relevant experience of work experience.

2. A man got lost in the forest. He saw two diverging paths, but he did not know
which way to go. On his left, he could see a faint light at a distance, but the way
seemed too dangerous. The path on his right appeared to be less scary, but he did
not see any light at a distance.
If you were the man, which way would you go? Explain based on intuition and
based on analysis (non-intuitive).

Based on intuition:
- If I was the man I would rather to choose the way which is the path on his left
that he could see a faint light ata a distance even the way seemed too
dangerous.

Based on analysis:
- I would rather to choose the path on his left that he could see a faint light at a
distance even if the way seemed too dangerous at least if there is something
will happen to him he could see at take a time what will he might if there is
someone will attack him rather than the path on his right appeared to be less
scary, but he did not see any light at a distance if there is something will
happened to him he could not see it or take a time to decide what will he might
do if someone will attack him.

Work with Might

Choose an interesting local vendor and perform a SWOT analysis. Since we

need to follow preventive measures because of COVID-19, make sure to choose a
local vendor who might be a family friend and lives within your neighbourhood.
Examples could be a sari-sari store of your neighbour, a street food vendor, an
online shop of your friend, etc. Preventive measures such as wearing of face mask,
maintaining a safe distance from anyone, cleaning your hands often, etc., should
be strictly followed in this task.
