Application of collaborative Technology.

As being said, technology has been a great pathway in collaborating; eradicating the limitations of time,
location and many more. So, we had talked about “what is collaborative technology?” Now, let’s talk
about “how we can apply these technologies”?

But before that let’s talk about the two kinds of communication in collaborating online, which are
synchronous and asynchronous communication.

What are synchronous activities?

 Synchronous activities refer to class activities that occur in real time.

A great example of synchronous technologies that are well known are skype and zoom.
Next, let’s talk about asynchronous activities.

 Asynchronous activities refer to activities that can be accessed at any time.

A great example of asynchronous activities is our email apps, messaging software, video recording tools,
and many more. Apps such as Gmail and Slack for messaging, Loom a video recording and Google Drive

There are also some technologies that can be used in an asynchronous and synchronous setting, such as
Msteams, Google docs (Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Drawings, Google Forms, Google Sites
and Google Keep), and facebook.

So now, how can we apply these technologies?

As students, we can apply these technologies in planning out upcoming projects, editing group works,
creating designs as a group, distributing tasks, sharing insights and opinions, and many more.

As teachers, we can apply these technologies by holding flexible teaching. One great example is during
the pandemic, wherein we are restricted to face-to-face interaction. Likewise, we can apply these
technologies in making and planning out programs and activities together with fellow educators for
quality learning for the students.

Collaborative tools can be applied or used every day, for we live to communicate, work and interact with
other people. It helps us to manage, change, communicate, and save time effectively working together
with other people. Thus, we should use and discover these tools for an organized, productive, and
effective work.
