"Effects of Technology on Student Learning” - (Kaite J. Carstens, January, 2021)

Today’s youth are growing up in a time where technology is constantly at their

fingertips. The growing world of social media applications and internet sites spike interest in

children. Additionally, cell phones, computers, tablets, free Wi-Fi, gaming systems, and

electronic-based toys are all the rage in today’s society. Students are growing up in a time

when technology is a competitive fad. . In today’s classroom, technology is becoming a more

prominent form of learning. With the ever-changing world of technology, teachers work hard

to incorporate technology into their everyday instruction in order to connect student passion
with learning. Educators are constantly looking for the technological tools that are going to

enhance the learning of their students. However, technology has been viewed as a great

resource in classrooms that has heightened learning ut has its negative effects on student

learning. With new information technology, education is fast becoming free of time and

space. But every learner still needs to be connected to a scaffold of support for lifelong

learning achievement. Students need parents, friends, and supervisors who are also teachers

and coaches. The primary function of the school-to-work movement is to mobilize

understanding and support so that students will acquire the skills, habits, values, and

understandings essential to productivity in all the roles of life.

"An Analysis of Productivity Apps Strengths: An Environmental Scan" - (Joy Xu,

August 2021)

In recent years, productivity apps have become the most commonly used apps.

Productivity apps have been shown to have three major benefits: accountability, assessment,

and improvement. Stress levels were especially reduced in the two meditation groups as

opposed to the muscle relaxation group . Furthermore, there has been reported evidence on

the effectiveness of app-based meditation and mindfulness in reducing stress and increasing

productivity for users. When looking at accountability, productivity apps use tactics such as

visualizations to help hold users to their goals of completing tasks that encourage and

motivate them to keep going. In addition, with increasing levels of motivation, individuals are

less likely to become distracted by minor things that can hinder their progress in completing

tasks. On the simplest level, productivity apps work by helping individuals see how much

they work, when they work and what they spend their time working on. While some may feel

productivity apps work solely.

TIME SPENT (Tan amd Yzza)

An Analysis of Study Habits, According to Students Across the U.S." - (GCU

Experience, March 2021)

Students are most likely to spend somewhere between six to 10 hours per

week studying. Several factors can impact the time students have to put toward

studying–the biggest one being whether the student is financially responsible for

themselves. Students who also work, face major time constraints in their schedule.

While all students must do it in some form or another, studying can look very

different depending on the person and even the degree level. Whether you prefer to

stay up late or wake up early to cram for an exam, everyone has their own habits and

preferences. However, some study habits are widespread across degrees. For instance,

the majority of students, they study more effectively alone. Several factors can impact

the time students have to put toward studying–the biggest one being whether the

student is financially responsible for themselves. Students who also work, face major

time constraints in their schedule. Many students holding an on- or off-campus

position (37.4%) reported they work less than five hours per week; however, another

18.5% said they work nearly full-time, 36 or more hours a week. Being a student is a

full-time job itself, though there are many benefits to working while pursuing a

degree. Outside of the financial support, a job may provide students with valuable
work experience that can launch their careers post-grad. Likewise, students should

consider the potential impacts and distractions that come along with having a job

while in school, such as keeping up with coursework and grades.

"Impact of Time Management Behaviors on Undergraduate Engineering

Students’ Performance" - (Ritchelle V. Adams, January 2019)

A number of factors affect undergraduate student performance. Many of these

factors may be perceived as being academic—related to the relevant skill sets that a

student may have and how they access the educational offer. One such nonacademic

skill is time management. Good time management skills have been identified as

having a “buffering” effect on stress. Time management can be defined as clusters of

behavioral skills that are important in the organization of study and course load. as

students learn coping strategies that allow them to negotiate competing demands.

Students are tasked to juggle the work–life balance without much institutional

support, and the way that higher education institutions are organized tends to lead to

peaks and troughs in the student workload. found that noncognitive personal

behaviors such as a student’s time perspective are effective predictors of academic

outcomes as poor time management approaches mean that students find it hard to plan

their work and may feel agitated toward the end of a course—when they are likely to

be assessed..
"The Relationship between Students' Study Time and Academic Performance

and its Practical Significance": Research Gate - (Mukun Liu, Nov 2021)

Study time was acknowledged as a significant grading factor for students.

Students need to exert varying amounts of effort depending on their knowledge level,

learning style and career goals. If they want a better mark, they should dedicate the

necessary study time. When learning, the major goal should be to enhance learning

abilities and not to pressure oneselves to acquire academic validation. Instead of

focusing just on the amount of time spent learning, students should consider the value

of each hour of instruction. Nowadays, people have been increasingly competitive

since their student days due to the vast population base when they apply for a

higher-level school or better job. which can reflect the importance of academic

success on future careers. In order to achieve success, students not only have to use

the appropriate skills, but also put in a lot of effort. Effort is central to strategy use

which, in turn, results in improved academic performance. The effort can be reflected

by the engagement of students in school and the levels of engagement can be

estimated from the amount of time spent on academics. It is generally considered that,

as more time is spent on learning, performance will be better. At the same time,

students are full of confusion about their future career development during the

student period. They may spend time on their hobbies to find future goals which

could make them balanced the time allocation between hobbies and learning,

resulting in problems such as grade decline due to unreasonable time allocation.

Issues with school performance can lead to more problems, such as family conflicts

or loss of interest on learning. The research shows that the social and emotional

climate of family relationships is adversely affected by poor school performance; at

the same time, family atmosphere is a mediating, factors problems which may result

from school failure.

“Length of Study-Time Behaviour and Academic Achievement of

Social Studies Education Students in the University of Uyo” - (I.N. George, 2019)

In any school system, academic performance is the priority to students as well

as the teachers. Several studies have shown that factors such as motivation and study

time have impacted on students‘ achievement. Since grade is a primary parameter of

such learning, if a learner earns high grades it is thought that he/she has learned well

while low grades indicate poor learning outcome. However, many have also found out

that several factors contribute to the grades. No single factor can be taken in isolation

as predicting grades. It has been an influence of so many factors such as gender, IQ,

study habits, study time, age, year of study, level of parent’s educational attainment,

social status, number of children, birth order, etc. In fact, almost all the above

environmental, personal and natural factors exert influence on academic performance.

The determinants of academic performance are a recurrent topic in public policy

debates on higher education.

One largely unsettled issue concerns the impact of the most essential factors in the

educational production, student’s effort and study time on academic achievement.

While many would probably agree that students will not learn unless they put forth

some amount of effort, our understanding of the ways study time impacts on

performance as measures by attaining a certain course grade is rather limited.

Study Habits (Jorin Lera and Kezia Tahum)

“The Learners' Study Habits and its Relation on their Academic Performance” -
(Jhoselle Tus, January 2020)

academic performance is largely dependent on a learner's study habits. It is an activity that

learners consistently carry out in order to successfully complete their learning objectives, just

as reading, taking notes, and leading study groups. Whether it benefits learners well or not

defines whether it is effective or counterproductive. According to the results, the respondents'

study habits are typical. The results revealed no connection between effective study

techniques and academic success and also showed that the learners' study practices are

consistent with those of the industry. The general study habits of learners need to be

improved, especially note-taking, their academic performance, reading ability, and general

wellness.

"Study Habit and Its Impact on Secondary School Students' Academic Performance in

Biology in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja" - (Ebele Uju F. and Olofu Paul A.,

March,2018)

Study Habits significantly impact academic performance in secondary school students in

Abuja. One studies through their study habits. In other words, the habits that students develop

while in school. A student cannot excel in school without effective study techniques. It was

recommended that teachers and guidance counselors should collaborate to develop good study

habits, enhancing academic success. The level of preparation and learning strategies
developed and employed consciously by students, go a long way to influence their level of

academic performance. The sooner a student starts practicing and developing good habits, the

better chance he will have that he will continue with them. Procrastination can be overcome

with proper study habits and improving one’s study habits is the key to better studying. Being

organized and having homework routines are the most important things in

helping a child/student develop good study habits for life. Developing good study habits help

spell success and a student will find himself working more efficiently and experiencing lesser

stress in the process. He adds that having effective study habits creates a more efficient

academic environment. Planning your study schedule as a student in advance and faithfully

sticking to it saves time. When students have good study habits, they tend to be less stressed.

Students who are anxious on exam day are typically the procrastinators who come

unprepared. Students who organize their lives and stick to their established study schedules

are confident and relaxed at test-taking time.

"Demographics as Variables in Assessing the Study Habits of High School Students in a

Catholic School": Philippine Social Science Journal

Effective study techniques are significant for students to fully understand a lecture

and to ensure good academic performance. Students use a variety of study habits to deal with

their courses, including time management and the amount of hours they spend studying a

topic related to their lessons. Students' study habits may also be affected in terms of frequency

and quality due to the increased use of technology.

“LEARNING STYLES, STUDY HABITS AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF

FILIPINO UNIVERSITY STUDENTS IN APPLIED SCIENCE COURSES:

IMPLICATIONS FOR INSTRUCTION”

The development of a country is dependent on the capability of its human resources.

The knowledge and technological advancement of society depend on the quality and

preparation of manpower who have sound technical understanding, personal and interpersonal

skills as scientists and technologist. As such, it is of utmost importance that the highest

standards are set in defining the objectives, components, and processes for Information

technology and industrial technology programs of higher education institutions. Knowledge

and education are common goods. The acquisition and application of knowledge is a part of

collective societal endeavor (UNESCO, 2015). The need to produce competent graduates in

their specific discipline who possessed the skills and attributes to deal with the ever-changing

work environment in the 21st century is a herculean task assigned to HEIs in the Philippines.
