Reflection: LinkedIn Learning (Midterms)

Google Forms Essential Training

Learning how to create and manage Google forms is essential especially at this time of distance learning.
Some school surveys, checklists, and examinations were done online using Google forms. It is also great
how this course walked us through the process of building a form, designing it, inserting images and
video, and adding questions to it.

Google forms allow users to create multiple quizzes or survey forms for free. It is also good that the
responses will be stored automatically on your Google Drive. Likewise, it promotes collaboration in
doing the form and in getting the results in a spreadsheet. It just makes the task easier and handy since
you can also do it on your phone or your desktop browser.

Office 365 for Educators (2018)

Microsoft Office 365 offers various digital tools that are beneficial to teachers. The apps included such as
PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, Word, and Teams make it a powerful platform. The integration of these
products in one suite helps saves resources. Managing documents is easier as well as storing files with
cloud storage.

The apps and resources enhance the lessons that better engage and motivate the learners. Data
visualization and 3D designs are just some of the tools that enable learners to show their creativity and
bring their ideas to life.

Collaboration is also possible with Microsoft Teams. The whole class can stay connected and
communicate with each other to work on specific tasks. Fortunately, the Department of Education
provides free Microsoft Office 365 accounts to teachers. We were able to use these features and tools
for free.

Social Media in the Classroom

Even before the pandemic and distance learning in the Philippines, most learners rely heavily on social
media platforms for information, sharing of thoughts and ideas, news, communication, and
entertainment. Now that we are adopting blended learning modalities, educators are also increasingly
utilizing social media platforms to deliver lessons.

Social media offers various benefits such as easy communication and developing children’s social media
skills. It also allows an individual to express their minds that some of them cannot do in a face-to-face
classroom setup. I have some students who prefer to participate in an online class or virtual discussion.
Plus, there are also plenty of digital resources for free online.

Since everyone is almost on social media, it is also a great marketing tool where everyone can engage
the parents and the community. You can inform them of the school activities, learning plans, and other
significant announcements. While social media also has its issues and limits, it is a powerful tool to build
authentic relationships through creative content. Likewise, you can build an online presence using social
media platforms.

It is important to teach students how to stay safe online and how to use social media properly. Doing so
will allow them to harness the power of social media and put it into good use.

Learning OneNote 2016 Class Notebooks

OneNote is basically like a virtual notebook that offers plenty of useful features. It allows users to be
organized by creating sections and pages. Students can also “review” their notes and collaborate with
others in real-time. Sharing of content is also possible.

It is good that we can access our notes in different apps for convenience. It is like having an old-
fashioned notebook with you but this time, an electronic one. Organizing an entire classroom is tedious
but OneNote can make it easy as it enables formative feedback, audio comment, individualized
instructions, doodle, and scribble with digital ink, and more.

This is a perfect tool that lets teachers take full control of their tasks. One can always use this to keep
everything that seems important like videos online, sketches, musical notes, quizzes, and other
multimedia content.

Elearning Essentials: Instructional Design

For decades instructional designers use the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implement,
Evaluate) model in building e-Learning projects. Due to constant changes and enhancements, the
Successive Approximation Model or SAM has been pitched forward. The designer believes that SAM is
way more effective because of its shorter iterations. Collaboration is also made easier, and more
focused while accommodating budget and time limitations.

Elearning projects are evolving hence, the model and process to use should be dynamic enough as well.
Since we are after flexible learning, it is also what modern designers are using- a flexible approach
instead of sticking to a rigid kind of methodology.
