SCOPE OF WORK MECHANIC

INTRODUCTION

Performs skilled level work associated with identification, repair and maintenance of light and heavy
equipment and related equipment and includes Replace parts and components, processes and ensuring the
mechanical safety of equipment through preventative maintenance and inspection. Types of equipment
may include Crane, heavy duty truck and manlift, etc.

Maintenance and repair report & activities on various pieces of heavy equipment including but not limited
to Roughterrain Crane, Allterrain crane, Crawler crane and heavy-duty truck ,aerial towers and man lifts.

Diagnoses, services and repairs various systems that are found on pieces of heavy equipment such as
mechanical and electronic controls, air brake systems, transmissions, automatic and manual
transmissions, and pneumatic systems.

SCOPE HEAVY EQUIPMENT MECHANIC

1. Troubleshoots malfunctions in the equipment and repair.


2. Performs routine maintenance checks and adjustments on such things as fluid levels, hoses, belts,
brakes, tires, and clutches; changes filters and oil, and lubricates vehicles and motor driven
equipment.
3. Diesel engines, services, fuel filters and turbo chargers, and checks fuel filters, etc.
4. Diagnoses problems, disassembles parts, repairs or replaces parts, and reassembles units in the
following systems & maintenance manual from manufacturer:
 Brakes: Repairs or replaces shoes, pads, drums, hoses, calipers, cylinders, heavy-duty air
brakes.
 Cooling: Flushes radiator, replaces hoses and thermostat, repairs or replaces radiator and
water pump, fan drives, air intercoolers and oil coolers.
 Electrical: Repairs or replaces fuses, batteries, lights, instruments, warning devices,
controls and switches, alternators, starters, and defective cables and wiring. This will
include 12 and 24-volt systems heavy equipment.
 Hydraulic: Repairs or replaces hoses, valves, and cylinders.
5. Maintains service logs and records of maintenance on vehicles and motorized equipment, using
equipment maintenance
6. Keeps tools, equipment, and work area clean, organized, and in good working condition.
Mechanic work cordination scope
 Skills used are listening to equipment operators and supervisors to get information to diagnose
problems with equipment, asking questions to obtain information about equipment, providing
advise to coworkers and working in a team environment to gain the cooperation of coworkers in
order to complete work, solve problems and make decisions.
 The most significant contacts are with the immediate supervisor to discuss schedule of equipment
repairs, coworkers to discuss repair procedures and share information, and equipment operators to
determine the problem and required repairs.
Schedule/Milestones

This part should define the schedule of maintenance and milestones for the work. It is imperative that all
milestones, tasks, and schedule information are as accurate as possible.

below so that relevant parties will understand when work is acceptable
