DISCUSSION

A. Definition of educators and Participants Learner

Educators are defined as adults who are responsible for the implementation of
education in providing knowledge and guiding the child towards maturity with a picture of
maturity that is always imagined by children in their educators, in the relationship between
educators and students, in Langeveld's terms it is called the educational situation .

Etymologically, students in Arabic are called Tilmidz, plural Talamid, which means
student. According to Abu Ahmadi, students are children who are not yet mature, who need
effort, help, and guidance from others to become adults in order to carry out their duties as
God's creatures.
Students are immature individuals who have a potential that must be developed, who
have different personalities and characteristics and try to develop their potential through
learning. Students are the object of education. An individual who really needs adults to guide
him, one of whom is a teacher (teacher), to guide them to become adults.

B. Types of educators

Educators as people who are responsible for guiding children to reach maturity, are
divided into 2 types, the first is the educator because of the necessity of life, while the second
is the educator because he is in charge of educating children.

The first educators are parents, father and mother. The second educator is an educator
educator as a profession because of his position he has to educate children, for example
teachers in schools (TK-SMA), supervisors in play groups, supervisors in institutions that
care for orphans, and so on.

a. Parents

Parents naturally become educators because they feel responsible for their
children. So that with that responsibility inviting parents to help the development of the
child, and fostering that development is called educating. The role of this first educator is
very large, because they are not only educating children so that they become big and smart
in all kinds of ways, but especially they help develop children in terms of their humanity,
make students become human beings who are able to live together with others, moral and
hearted humans conscience.

Parents have a direct influence on the future of the second child at various stages of
life, both in childhood, adolescence and adulthood. Therefore Islam considers the task of
children's education as an obligation for parents that must take precedence.

b. Teacher

The second educator is those who are given the task of being educators. They get an
assignment from their parents, as a substitute for their parents. They become educators
because of their profession as educators, teachers in schools, for example.
Teachers as educators must meet several special requirements for teaching equipped with
various education and teacher sciences as a basis, accompanied by teacher skills training
tools (Field Experience Practice), that's where he learns to personalize some of the required
teacher and educational attitudes.

C. Characteristics of educators and participants learners

1 . Identifying of educators:
a. There is authority

The authority that radiates from him towards students. Authority is an influence that
is recognized as truth and greatness, not something that is compelling. Authority must be
proportional to the helplessness of students, if the ability of educators is not different from
that of students, then that authority is difficult to uphold.

Thus the authority of an educator will be recognized if the educator has the
advantages of his students in terms of attitude, knowledge and skills.

b. Know the students

An educator must know students specifically so that their education can suit each
child individually, this can be learned from developmental psychology.
Every child in one class has a similar age, and their characteristics are also different. For
that an educator must get to know their students.

c. Helping Students

The third characteristic of an educator is that they are willing to help their students,
and the assistance provided must be in accordance with what their students expect. Every
student wants to be himself, wants to stand on his own, wants to take responsibility himself
and wants to determine for himself, for that the educator should not be too imposing his will
but remember the wishes of his students.

2. The traits of educators :

Mahmud Yunus by providing an overview of the qualities that a teacher must have,
so that the teacher is successful in his duties as a teacher and also as a figure who will always
be remembered and imitated by his students. The characteristics that must be possessed by a
teacher are as follows:

a. The teacher must love his pupil as he loves his own child.

It is a duty for teachers to love and cherish their students as if they love and cherish
their own children and think about their situation like thinking about their own children.
Compassion is obligatory and must exist in each individual teacher. This affection should
especially be poured out to underprivileged students, dirty clothes, bad behavior, harsh
words, sour face, hard heart like stone.

According to Mahmud Yunus, children like this are an opportunity for a teacher to try
to arouse the spirits of those who have died and to revive the souls of those who have died.
So one way to revive the children's souls, the teacher must know the things and tendencies of
the child's heart, and try to help and assist him and also provide guidance and understanding
to the child with honesty and compassion.

b. Teachers must also have the nature of a sense of awareness of their obligations to
society.

And a teacher must know that every lesson he teaches is for and for the benefit of
society. Teachers must also try to instill morality and love for the motherland in the souls of
their students. According to Mahmud Yunus, basic practical religious education and love for
the country and a good role model, teachers will be able to form a new generation and a
perfect people in all aspects needed by society. So it is in the hands of the teacher that all
generations of the nation are educated, then they enter the community, work in their
respective fields.

c. A teacher must be honest and sincere in his work.

Honesty and sincerity of a teacher in his work is the best way for his success in
teaching as well as the success of his students in learning. The teacher must fulfill his duties
as well as possible as an obligation that is carried on his shoulders. Teachers who come to
class late to teach are dishonest teachers. Therefore the teacher must be honest and take care
of the student's time so that it is not wasted. Teachers should come to school on time and
never be late, so that teachers become examples and role models for their students in keeping
time and keeping promises.
d. Teachers must be in constant touch with the development of science.

Teachers should know a little about various kinds of knowledge. This is useful for
answering questions from students from time to time. Teachers must have broad knowledge
and material, so teachers who have broad scientific insights will be able to organize their
classroom situation when the lesson takes place at the same time it will foster students' love
for the lessons they teach.

e. Teachers must also familiarize their students to believe in themselves and think
freely.

Mahmud Yunus suggested eradicating education that leaves everything to the teacher,
which will result in the failure of students in the future. According to Mahmud Yunus,
habituation to think and work alone will train maturity in students and will create a sense of
responsibility in these students.

f. A teacher should speak in a language that is understood and understood by students.

A teacher who speaks a language that is not understood is the same as a mother
giving solid food to her newborn baby, of course the child will not be able to swallow it.
Likewise, students who do not understand the language of the teacher, these students will not
be able to accept the lessons given by the teacher.
g. A teacher must think about moral education.
3. Educator Requirements
Every job requires certain conditions so that someone who has the job can play a role
effectively and efficiently. For an educator who associates with students of different
characters and must change for the better, these conditions must be met. According to Edi
Suardi (1984) educators must meet several requirements, namely:

a. An educator must know the purpose of education.

It is certain that the ultimate goal of education must be fully realized. Educators must
have a lot of knowledge about what is called an adult human, according to the place and
time. If in a country there is an educational institution, then an educator must be familiar with
the goals of national education or the national ideals of that country.

b. An educator must know the principles and uses of educational tools.

He must also know which one is suitable for a child in certain situations. He must
determine what educational path or procedure he should use or follow.

c. An educator must unite with his students.

An educator must be able to unite with his students, but that does not mean he forgets
himself. He is still an adult but must adapt the way of educating children to suit the world of
children.

1. Educator Competence

Competence is a set of knowledge, skills, and behaviors that an educator / teacher or

lecturer must possess, appreciate, and master in carrying out professional duties. Drs. Akmal
Hawi argues that competence is the ability and authority of teachers in carrying out their
teaching profession. These competencies can be assessed and are very important in relation
to teaching and learning activities and student learning outcomes, as well as being used as
guidelines in the framework of fostering and developing educators. To become a professional
educator, of course, you must have teacher competence.
In article 28 paragraph 3 of PP RI No. 19 of 2005 concerning National Education
Standards, educators as learning agents must have four types of competences, namely
pedagogical competence, personality competence, professional competence and social
competence.

a. Pedagogic competence.

Pedagogic competence is the teacher's understanding of students, planning,

implementing learning, evaluating learning outcomes, and developing students to actualize
their potential.

b. Personality Competencies

Personality Competencies, in the form of a solid and stable personality, mature wise,
dignified and noble, so that they can become role models. For a teacher, this is the basic
capital to carry out their duties professionally.

c. Professional Competence
Professional Competence, according to education experts, a job is said to be a
profession if it is carried out for a living, at the same time it is carried out with a high level of
expertise. In the context of teaching professionalism, according to JB Situmorang and
Winarno, generally speaking a professional teacher must at least master two things, namely:
First, mastering the material and knowledge being taught or for which they are responsible.
Second, mastering how to teach well.

d. Social competence.

Social competence is the teacher's ability to communicate, collaborate and interact

effectively and efficiently, be it with students, fellow educators, parents / guardians, or with
the surrounding community.

Of the four competencies that have been described, of course, educators will succeed
in carrying out their duties if they have these competencies and will create good quality.
1. Identifying traits of Students:
a. Individuals who have different potential or talents.

Since birth, children have been gifted with different talents or potentials. No child is
born without potential, but only because it is underdeveloped. Therefore, to develop the
potential that is owned, guidance is needed, be it from parents or the environment in which
they live.

b. Individuals who are developing

It can be interpreted that the individual will continue to develop, and is developing
whether it is developing about his mindset or in his physical. The individual will not remain
just like that, he will continue to develop especially according to his age. It will develop by
itself. When individuals are developing, the role of parents or teachers is very necessary. On
that basis, educators must be able to set conditions and strategies that are relevant to the needs
of students.

c. Individuals who need human guidance

In the process of developing, students need guidance, just as a newborn baby really
needs a mother to develop and to live. But here it is different, students are no longer babies.
But they need guidance, and of course it still depends on what they consider to be adults.
d. Individuals who have the ability to be independent

In its development, students have abilities that will bring them to maturity. Where
parents or educators can free it, but not just free, but little by little. Where students can live
their own lives, so that they can get the opportunity to be responsible for what they do.

2. Personality participants learners

Personality is a total number of innate tendencies with various environmental andeduc

ational influences that shape a person's condition to influence his attitude towards life. The
personality is derived from the language of the English personiality is derived from the
language of the
Latin charm that masks are used by actors in a show. Esyenck argue the nature of personality
comes from heredity or all behavior behavior learned from the environment through
interaction function that organizes the behavior of sectors cognitive , conative , affective and
sectors somative .

3. Ethics and needs of students

Ethics is the science about what course the good and bad about the incumbency moral
or morality, which is rated right or wrong and embraced by a group or community . In terms
other than a word was born is born of morality or words of morals, because sometimes the
term moral is often used to explain the attitude of outward somebody who rated of behavior
behavior or act real . In progress, ethics can be divided into two, namely ethics temperament
and ethics morals, ethics temperament here is custom or h abit that describe the temperament
of human at a time certain and are recognized or approved by the results of the study , one of
the examples is dressed in custom , marriage and promiscuity young mudi .

Meanwhile, in moral ethics it is related to the habits of good and right behavior. And
if ethics is violated then arises deeds were not good and true. Because the habit is what is
called moral, for example, that is said and done honestly , respecting the elderly and teachers
and appreciate others. often we are wrong in mixing up between ethics and etiquette , ethics
itself means moral while the etiquette itself means polite or can be also called manners. Both
are equally the same about the behavior of human beings , both the ethics and etiquette
themselves that regulate the behavior of humans is normative .
D. The function of educators and the needs of students

1. Educator function
According to Ahmad Farid, quoting CeceWijayadan A. Tabrani Rusyan, explaining
some of the roles and functions of these educators as follows:

a. Teachers as teachers and educators

b. Teachers as members of society

c. Teachers as leaders

d. Teachers as administrators

e. Teachers as managers of the teaching and learning process.

2. The needs of students

All the things that need to be considered in guiding the participants students are needs
them. Al qussy divide the needs of man in two primary needs: the needs of physically and
needs of secondary ( needs spiritual ) Then he split again needs spiritual on six kinds :

Needs love affection ,

Needs to be a sense of safe ,
The need will price themselves ,
Needs to be taste -free,
The need for success,
The need for a mentor,
The most essential need is the need for religion, religion is needed by humans because
it requires orientation and objects of devotion in life. by because of it, is not no one that does
not require religion. The function of god for children has increased, the existence of God in
the face of encouragement evil and not good in his heart . While the age teenager trust to god
sometimes sometimes very strong , but som etimes less powerful, is because worship are
sometimes industrious and lazy, because the feelings humans depend on changes in emotions
are experienced. When associated with education, the needs of the needs of the participant
students should be considered by every educator, with such participant students will grow and
flourish re ach maturity psychologically and physically in accordance with the value of the
value of the teachings of the benar. Next law head, divide the needs of man as follows: The
need for physical, such as eating, drinking, breathing, protection, sex, health etc.

Spiritual needs, love affection, a sense of safe, appreciation, learn, connect themselves
with the world that is more extensive (restore themselves) to actualize his own etc. Thee
needs which involves physical, spiritual, like the rest, recreation, takes the potential physical
in order to be able to develop as much as possible . The needs which is high in character
( usually felt over the end ) is the demands of the spiritual that depth, namely the need to
improve ourselves against religion. in the characteristics of the participants of the students
there are developments of personality that can be reviewed from a variety of view that is the
view psychoanalyst, the psychology of the individual, the view of psychology field, as well as
view the analysis of factors. Frued said that personality development originates from the
stress of physical growth, frustration, conflict and threats. So the participant students will be
forced to learn in the way of how new that reduce stress. The way to reduce tension in
personality development is to use identification, object removal and self- defense
mechanisms.

Identification is to reduce tensions with the example of figure figures future ago,
figures herein may derived from the book of sacred, figures of fantasy , mind etc. The move
object replacement strain , while the mechanisms of defense of self that is teh system for
various production forms of interference with the characteristic traits their frustration and
conflict , love affection are not appropriat e so that there arises a desire that has not been able
in laurels .

CHAPTER III

CLOSING

A. Conclusion
Educators are defined as adults who are responsible for the implementation of
education in providing knowledge and guiding the child towards maturity, while students are
immature individuals who have a potential that must be developed, who have different
personalities and characteristics and make efforts. develop its potential through learning.

Educators are not only teachers in schools, but parents are also the main educators.
Educators in educating their students must meet the requirements and also have the four
competencies that an educator must have. Students are individuals who differ both in their
personalities and in the potential of each student. To achieve educational goals, an educator
must be able to understand the characteristics of students.

1. Suggestion
Basically, educators and students are a single dual that is solidly united. Both of
them have a close relationship. For this reason, educators must be able to establish a
harmonious relationship with their students by always being professional so that

hopes of achieving educational goals can be easily realized.
