Introduction.

The consumer behaviour is the most critical part of the business performance. It helps the

businesses to know their performances in the market. it has been of great interest during the

study of the social sciences. The analysis of the consumer behaviour has been carried out for

many years. The study of the consumers behaviour dates back 50 years ago. In this study, the

literature of the consumer behaviour has been the center of attention. The changes in the market

will affect the consumer behaviour in different ways. The journal and articles have documented

the previous researches carried out (Floren, Rasul & Gani, 2019). Communication is the one of

the most important means of passing the information from one point to another. The newspapers

and the magazines are some of the channels that will be used to disseminate the information. The

business dailies and magazines will contain financial information that is required by the financial

users or stakeholders who participates in the stock market.

When the financial information delays and the stakeholders fail to get it within the right

time, they are likely to make the wrong decision. The stakeholders in the financial market

requires the financial information immediately it is generated. This will help them to make

informed judgment. The newspapers and the magazines are very important in achieving this

goal. The disadvantages of the newspaper are that it is very perishable and will loss the value

when a day is spent. Business newspapers are published on daily except the weekends. The

publication of the business magazines can be weekly, monthly or quarterly. The business dailies

will cover the information relating to the financial sector in 10 to 12 pages. The papers contain

basic tips of the business performances and helpful information relating to the stock market.

The journals have recently become one of the significant means of exchange of

information when carrying out the research. Due the changes in technology, the means of
3

communication has changed. The current trend is to see that the information is transmitted

through the electronic means instead of the manual system. The electronic mode of data

transmission has enabled the creation of websites and the researcher can easily learn the journals

from other scholars which are stored in form of soft copy.

It is very important for the companies to know the behaviour of their consumers. This

gives the businesses the chances to know the trends of their business performance. When the

companies know the consumer behaviour, they will know if they are increasing the market share

or decreasing the market share. The companies selling the dailies should be in constant touch

with their customers. the customers in the business are the most important resources and they

should be treated like the queens and kings. It is important to know their behaviour so as to

predict their performances and the reactions in the market.

This study is carried out to determine the behaviour of the consumers of the business

dailies and the magazines. The study has compared several types of the newspapers and

magazines so as to make the inferences. The research has ben carried out based on some

parameters which comprises the comparison of the features of the various newspapers.

Therefore, the main purpose of this study is to carry out the literature to investigate the consumer

behaviour on the business dailies and magazines.

Literature review

This section will involve the review of the existing theories and obtaining their beneficial

relevance from the theories. There are very many studies that have been carried out relating to

the consumer behaviour in the financial sector. Many scholars have been researched on the field
4

of consumer behaviour and they have produced information on the selected relevant and very

effective studies that have been conducted across different sectors.

The studies of the consumer behaviour have been based on the factors affecting the

consumer behaviour, the attitude of the consumers and the quality and innovations of the firms

and the products they are selling.

The examination of the articles which are published reveals the trends and the issues that

will have an effect on the consumer behaviour. When the content analysis is carried out it will

help the reader and the researcher on a given discipline to examine the kinds of the topics that are

important for a particular field the journal represents (Antonides, 2017). The content analysis

will also be carried out by the peers under the peer review. Under the studies of the consumer

behaviour, the marketing literature and other business issues reviews can be used to give more

insights on the specific journal contributions on the field of the consumer behaviour. The Journal

of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research and Journal of Marketing are some of the

popular journals that have discussed the theory of consumer behaviour in details.

The study is analytical research. The analysis based on other paper papers which have

been carried out was also conducted. This study gives the researcher the chance of determining

the main stream of the research over a given period of time. The analytical studies on the

consumer behaviour have been carried on different fields. The comprehensive content analysis

carried on the peer reviewed journal publication has made the researchers to have the general

knowledge of the analytical research.

The examination of the literature relating to the consumer behaviour has been traced and

documented many years ago. This study field has been surveyed over a long period of time. The
5

content of the consumer behaviour journals was first analyzed 32 years ago. Years later, the

analysts reviewed the study and started examining the evolution of the consumer behaviour. In

this study five journals will be reviewed so as to understand the content of the journals. It will

help us to carry out the comparison and the consumer behaviour literature. The review of the

journals has been done through the analysis of the journals and also through the websites (Kozak

& Decrop, 2009). There has been evidences in the Web of Sciences Internet library source and

the Thomson Reuters journal citation reports relating to the common journals that discusses the

theory of the consumer behaviour. The two sources of the journals both measures the influence

the publications make on the scholars. It means that the two sources indicate the frequencies of

using a given report for the purpose of extracting a content to be used in other research work.

There are other sources that have contributed to the consumer behaviour. Some of other sources

includes the books and the monographs. The books and the monographs have not been examined

when carrying out this study.

Research methodology

This section addresses the development of the study and the methods used to collect the

data and the analysis of the results. Research design is carried out through step-by-step process in

gathering the relevant and desired information that will help in making the inferences from the

survey. The study relates to the analytical research design. The research will involve the critical

understand by use of critical thinking skills and the evaluations of the facts and information

which is relevant to the field under the study. The research will involve comparing the content of

the previous journals so as to determine the impact of the consumer behaviour in the financial

sector. Therefore, this study is an empirical study which is based on the survey methods.

Data collection Methods

6

This part explains the various methods of gathering the data to be used in the analysis. It

explains the method used in the survey. In this case, the data used in the analysis is collected

through the questionnaire and the secondary sources. In the secondary sources, the enumerator

gathers the data through the inspection of the daily reports and the published journals.

The other way the secondary data was collected is through the use of the websites. The

data collected from this form was helpful to know the name of the journal that was downloaded

many times. The analysis will help the research to evaluate the content of the journal that makes

it to be one of the most needed articles and read by the internet users. The use of website in

collecting the data will help to ease the work of the researcher.

Research Questions

1. What characteristics does the content of the consumer behaviour articles have?

2. Does the content of the journals have conformity with the consumer behaviour

theory?

3. Who are the scholars whose articles are frequently read or downloaded from the

websites relating to the field of consumer behaviour?

4. What are the preferred range of the consumer behaviour publications based on the

number of pages?

5. Which is the area that is highly researched in the field of consumer behaviour?

Conclusion

Every journal does not have the same content and some are more detailed than others.

Due the differences in the journal content, some are more preferred for others. The analytical

review of the journals relating to the financial consumer behaviour is very important because it
7

will help to know the most researched area and the preferred number of pages for a good and

attractive journal.
