About the Interior Design Program:


· The Interior Design Program has an Internship
component for students who have completed
their 3rd year of studies.
· Internships occur over the summer and seek to
provide students with industry experience.
· Students complete a minimum of 240 hours in
the field. This equates to 6 weeks.
· Employers can opt to keep students beyond
the 240-hour minimum (not a requirement).
· Students have a range of training in a variety
of programs and technologies.

INTERIOR DESIGN INTERNSHIP

Vancouver Island University’s Interior Design Program has an Internship component for students
who have completed their 3rd year of studies. These placements occur over the summer and
seek to provide students with industry experience. The University through these internships,
partners with professionals in the field to assist in further developing up and coming profession-
als. The program is meant to be flexible and work with industry.

A brief overview is as follows:

Students: 3rd year Interior Design students are required to complete a summer Internship.

Start date: This can vary based on employer/project need. Most students start in May but
they can start as late as early July.

Hour requirement: Students must complete a minimum of 240 hours in the field. This
equates to 6 weeks of work experience. Some employers opt to keep students beyond that 240
hour min. but this is not expected.
