I was ill about half a year ago.

I have had a bad cold several times in my life but fortunately, I

haven’t been ill for a long time.
My nose was running and I was coughing and sneezing. I also had a pain in my chest.
When I had a bad cold I decided to see my general practitioner (GP).
He looked at my tongue and throat, felt my pulse and listened to my lungs. He gave me a
thermometer to take my temperature. It wasn’t so high. He diagnosed my illness and
prescribed some medicine.
The doctor said I had to stay in bed for a few days and take the medicine three times a day
after meals. He also told me to drink a lot of tea.
My mother got all the pills at the nearby chemist’s, we went home and went to bed right
away.
Perhaps flu is the commonest disease but there are a lot of people who suffer from different
kinds of allergies. The most common causes of death are cancer and heart attack.
If I have toothache I go to the dentist’s. The dentist then fills the aching tooth. If it is too far
gone he pulls it out.
I ride a bike quite a lot and I especially like going for a walk with my dogs. I occasionally go
swimming on summer.
We have five P.E. lessons a week either in the school gymnasium or in sports field outside the
school.
The basic winter sports are skiing, skating and ice-hockey. In winter children like snowballing
and sledging.
The water sports I know are swimming, rowing, sailing, wind-surfing, water-skiing, water-
polo and diving.
Athletics includes running, hammer throwing, discus and javelin throwing as well as high
jumping and long jumping.
There are quite a few ball games and most of them are very enjoyable to watch or play. The
ones I like are soccer, American football, basketball, table-tennis, ice-hockey, and water-polo.
The ones I have heard about are rugby and golf.
I love football and I often watch football matches. My favourite team is PSG.
