Course Description : Orientation into the rudiments of psychological testing. The principles, methods and uses of psychological testing are tackled. Emphasis is placed on
issues of item analysis, reliability, and validity in test construction. The administration, scoring and interpretation of objective, cognitive and affective
test used in various applied fields of psychology, particularly the educational, industrial and government settings are covered. Ethical considerations
as well as current trends and issues is psychological testing in the Philippine setting are discussed.

Pre-requisite : PRPY 121 – Psychological Statistics; PRPY 133 – Abnormal Psychology

Course Intended Learning Outcomes (CILO):


At the end of the course the student is expected to:

1. Cognitive
a. Describe the history, concepts and application of psychological assessment
b. Apply the principles of psychometrics in the administration, scoring and interpretation of the more commonly used psychological tests of
psychometrics.
c. Compare and evaluate various psychological assessment techniques that are appropriate for various purposes
d. Practice and show understanding of psychological testing in the write-up of a psychological report
e. Discuss the ethical principles governing psychological testing.

2. Affective
a. Practice respect for the dignity of persons, assume responsibility for and maintain integrity of his/her work as a future psychometrician.

3. Psychomotor
3.1 Administer, score and interpret psychological tests commonly used in the educational and industrial settings
