EPISODE 5
(FACE-TO-FACE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT)

Participate and Assist

Given the concepts and the infographic, can you participate and assist in a face-
to-face learning environment?

As a potential teacher, I will participate and contribute in a face-to-face

learning environment by creating a welcoming, comfortable, and conducive
classroom in which students feel free to participate and inquire questions.
Students are encouraged to connect with others to express their ideas, and give
comments on material or lessons. In order to assist the learners to develop their
social, creative, and analytical thinking abilities and improve the quality of their
task output, I will also let them work alone and in groups. Additionally, I think I
can use a variety of teaching methods which will be extremely helpful and
supportive in a face-to-face educational environment because we are using this
new curriculum.

Notice
Having been exposed to the traditional classrooms in your basic education, it
seems that everything is familiar. However, as teaching-learning theories evolve
over time there are changes that are taking place.
What changes have you noticed in the face-to-face classroom spaces?

Analyze
What do you think brought the changes in the face-to-face learning environment
now?
 The pandemic is the cause why there is a lot of changes in the learning
environment. The great changes in face-to-face learning environment is
adjustment. Adjustment of the pupils and teachers in their environment,
because of the pandemic they’re not be able to meet each other. Aside of
adjustment the other changes is classroom rule and furniture
arrangement, because in their home there is no such rule and chairs and
table arrangement. Even sitting arrangement is one of the changes that
the pupils needed to adapt in their learning environment.
From the changes that you identified, choose one that you can do. How will you
do it?
 In setting the classroom rule and furniture arrangement, it should deal by
the teacher and pupils. In that case they can know their responsibility
inside their learning environment.

OBSERVE
What common problem have I noticed in the face-to-face learning
environment? The common problem that I have noticed in the face-to-
face learning environment are the clamorous atmosphere and
crammed conditions inside and outside the classroom.
Can I translate this problem into a question? Yes, How to prevent the
clamorous atmosphere and crammed conditions inside and outside
the classroom.
REFLECT
How would I solve the problem? By developing and upholding the
rules and regulations that students require to create a positive and
comfortable learning environment in order yo solve that kind of
problem.
Will it improve my teaching? __ How? Yes. It helps me to get better at
what I do so that I can concentrate more on the lesson and provide
my students a better learning experience. Additionally, it enables
people to connect with one another while maintaining a higher level of
academic focus.
PLAN
What will I do to solve the problem? Describe briefly how you will do
it.
I would create something special to help my kids practice netiquette
both in and outside of the classroom. This helps students grow in
morality, attitude, and discipline within a particular context.

PORTFOLIO ENTRY
Describe the physical environment:
 Physical environment describes the general structure and
arrangement of a particular classroom and its instructional areas.
To maximize learning possibilities and each child's engagement,
teachers should organize the environment's areas, furnishings,
and resources. Teachers can successfully do this by
implementing the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) idea, which
emphasizes that the environment and the resources in it should
be accessible to everyone. This accessibility could be achieved by
offering books at various reading levels, putting supplies on a
shelf where they are easily accessible, or making the classroom
large enough for a youngster in a wheelchair to move around.

Describe the psychological environment:

 The cognitive environment, which refers to the knowledge and
abilities to be acquired, and the emotional environment, which
includes motivation and feelings, are both included in the
psychological learning environment.

Describe the social environment:

 The phrase "social environment" describes how a classroom
setting affects or facilitates relationships between young children,
instructors, and family members. A well-planned social
environment promotes healthy peer relationships, positive adult-
child interactions, and chances for adults to assist kids in reaching
their social objectives.

LEARNING
EPISODE 6
(Making On-line or Virtual Learning Environment Safe and

Conducive)
72

Notice

Unlike the traditional face-to-face classroom, online or virtual

environment is a bit difficult to manage. It is because Virtual Learning
Environment (VLE) is imaginary and not in the physical sense. It has
no corners or walls and it can be set up with the support of
technology.

As a teacher, what have you discovered to be easy to implement in

your virtual class? Online classes are challenging to organize, but we
must find a solution, I learned as an observer in one. I'll start by
establishing rules and restrictions even though everything is done
online. The involvement of my students will be monitored, and I'll
employ synchronize and offbeat to give them ample time to complete
their assignments. If it cost three times as much as it does now, it
would supposedly be amazing.
How did the students show their active participation in the lesson?
By being on time for an online virtual class and consistently
contributing in the discussion by raising their hands or clicking the
raise hand icon, students show active participation in the lecture.
They also pay close attention, probe, and actively engage in all
activities, but not always.
73

ANALYZE

Which of the following is/are your analysis/analyses of on-line

learning environment?
Check one or more.
_✓_ It was difficult to observe the physical behavior of the students.
_✓_ It takes time for students to learn how to use the platform.
_✓_ Students who are alone in their home space find difficulty to
make responses.
_✓_ Internet connectivity is a great factor to support a conducive
environment.

Field Study 2 Mr. Jose D. Gila

As a future teacher I feel that the on-line learning environment can be

safe if the surrounding of the pupils are hazardous for them and also
if there is a tropical storm in that certain place/area.

I think that teaching in virtual learning environment is barely

hard for the learners and the teacher. Because they can’t
communicate properly for being lack of internet connection or other
preference that can disturb the learning process of the pupils.

As a future teacher i feel that online learning environment can be safe
if the user are strictly follow the safety reminders or protocols.
Teachers must always remind to their students that use your
technology in a proper way. As a future teacher i must give some
rules to lessen cyber-bullying.
- I think that teaching n a virtual learning environment is very difficult.
Teacher and students don't have proper communication regarding
their lessons. Their are many barrier that you may encounter n virtual
like noisy environment, slow connection and of resources to be use in
virtual class.

REFLECTION

Aiko Marie Pagacita BEED 4-A

Field Study 2 Mr. Jose D. Gila

As a future teacher I feel that on-line learning environment can be

safe if the teacher innovates in the right way. In order for students to
know what to avoid and report when completing coursework online,
we felt it was essential to clarify online security for them. Students are
given the knowledge and abilities they will require to form secure
online habits in the future through this understanding. Additionally, it
teaches students online etiquette and responsibility, which can help
them stay secure even when they are not working on academic
assignments. This is educational in my opinion.
I think that teaching in a virtual learning environment
For me since I'll be able to use a number of software apps and web
tools to offer my courses, which will be fascinating and exciting. On
the other hand, I think that virtual teaching is challenging because I
only have a fundamental grasp of how to use online learning
environments. I'll thus need to attend webinars or seminars to learn
how to use those apps.
77

REFLECTION

Field Study 2 Mr. Jose D. Gila

1.A online learning environment can be safe if there is no

abusing, no judgement, and other bad things that might get
hurt some feelings..And mostly we need to care and loved
each other..Because teaching students is not in smart of a
teacher its a part to show your loved care and to share you
smart to the children.
2.Virtual learning caused us too learn new skills that we do
not discover when online learning is not yet necessarily
needed to all student but on the other hand the negative
effect of it was, students are having difficulties in balancing
their time management, some do have anxieties because of
some priorities they didn't manage well.

REFLECTION

Mary Ann Negre BEED 4-A

Field Study 2 Mr. Jose D. Gila

As a future teacher I feel that on-line learning environment

can be safe if the instructor employs appropriate innovation.
We knew it was critical to define online security for students
so they know what to avoid and report when doing classwork
online. This understanding equips students with the
knowledge and skills they will need to develop secure online
habits in the future.
* I think that teaching in a virtual learning environment
Answer : Will be interesting and exciting for me because I
will be able to present my lessons using a variety of software
apps and online tools. On the other hand, I believe virtual
teaching is complicated because I only have a basic
understanding of how to use digital learning platforms. As a
result, I'll have to go to webinars or seminars to learn how to
use those apps.
79

Action Research Prompts

OBSERVE
Identify the problems brought about by the on-line learning
environments. Social exclusion restricted use of technology. People
who are not computer literate cannot use the system.

REFLECT
By using a solid innovation integration strategy, this issue might be
resolved in the classroom. I was conscious of the fact that there are
external factors while implementing learning innovation. The majority
of changes are continuous, and external concerns must be
addressed at the organizational level. The access restriction alludes
to issues brought on by a network or hardware shortage. Only
schools with sufficient resources and a quick internet connection may
implement innovative teaching methods. The government must help
our students cope in this difficult time. Even in an emergency, I agree
that no one should be refused an education because children are our
best hope for a better future.

PLAN
Experts agree that maintaining contact with teachers and keeping
them informed of developments is of utmost importance. They ought
to be sympathetic and understanding of the predicament, even if it
means making backup recordings of class sessions. Encourage
students to work hard and keep focused; try to steer away from
anything that can obstruct your learning. You can interact with you
and converse with you at different levels. Plan breaks and stay on
schedule when learning to prevent missing live lectures or sessions.
Furthermore, all you might require at home is a fast internet
connection.

What insight have you gained while doing this learning Episode?
Doing this episode I have remember my all teacher from
elementary, highschool and now I'm in college from now on , where I
realized now that all routine and procedures they employ to us is very
important in order to maintain the good flow of the class and good
behavior. So , as a future teacher while thinking this routine and
procedures that I employ in my class soon, I learned that I need to
think deeper, know what expectations should I have to my students for
that I can develop appropriate routine and procedures to the class.

Action Research Prompts

OBSERVE
The problems / challenges I encountered in establishing my
classroom routines were minor, but with the assistance of my
cooperating teacher and the participating students, everything went
smoothly.

REFLECT
I hope to achieve to address these problems and challenges by
strengthening and bringing out the best ideas of the students, as well
as practicing organizational skills.

PLAN
Some strategies/ways which I can employ to improve my classroom
routines are to incorporate fun and engaging activities to activate the
fun and excitement as we progress through our class.

-Remote learning provides flexibility for students to learn from

anywhere and for parents to support their children. It allows students
who want to explore enrichment opportunities to learn more
independently. Students doing a remote course at home will have to
figure out their own issues. That's a positive because it will help them
be better problem solvers. Also, since they're at home, they get to
spend more time with their families, which can have a positive mental
health component.

Participate and Assist

After realizing the different elements and steps of a classroom/remote management

plan, you are now ready to make your own plan which you can implement in your
classroom/ remote learning. You may request a copy of the Classroom/Remote Learning
Management Plan of your Resource Teacher or you may surf the internet for more
samples/ exemplars to guide you in creating your plan.
Be guided with the guide questions for each of the elements. Follow these reminders in
writing your plan.
MY CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN
101

Philosophical Statement
I will create a safe, enjoyable, and cooperative learning environment. Discipline will be applied as soon
as possible and as necessary. Every student in my class will begin each day with a clean slate. Each
student will get the one-on-one attention they need to succeed.
Classroom Rules and Procedures
To ensure the discipline of my students, I will establish classroom rules and procedures such as: 
 Show your teacher respect and pay attention to what he or she is saying. 
 Be considerate of your classmates.
 Be prepared for class.
 Raise your hand to speak if you want to.
 Remain silent when your teacher speaks. 
 Share new concepts
 Maintain a clean classroom at all times.
 Stick to the seating arrangement.
 Use positive language. 
 Remain alert at all times.
 Take part in the discussions
 Obey all school regulations. 
 Be on time. 
 Finish your homework on time. 
 Tell the truth.

Teacher- Student Relationship

In order to maintain positive relationships with my students, I will treat them fairly and with
respect. I'll teach them to be morally upright and to respect others. I find that using positive words
when interacting is more effective. I'll teach them both how to speak and how to listen. I'll remind
them that I'm their teacher and they're my students, so they must keep me informed of any
developments.
Schedule Timeframes
In terms of time and scheduling, I will organize my class schedule based on what my co-teachers
and I agreed upon. I should always consider my coworkers' and students' perspectives. I will make
every part of my lesson interesting and interactive in order to keep my students' attention on the
task at hand. I should always draw the attention of all of my students, even those in the back. I
should also take into account their emotions and circumstances.
Classroom Structure, design and Arrangements
I will provide materials that will aid in the growth and development of my students in order to
create a conducive learning environment in my classroom. I'll also include some technology that
we'll use in class on a daily basis. Furthermore, in my classroom, I will eliminate anything that can
cause distractions and stress.
Classroom, Safety, Rules and Procedures
To ensure the safety and security of my students, I will provide a medicine cabinet in case
something goes wrong. Aside from that, I should get rid of anything that could be dangerous, such
as knives, chemicals, or anything else.
For security reasons, the classroom should have two doors and a fire extinguisher. I will impose
rules such as requiring students to notify me or a security guard if they have any concerns, posting
a cellphone number in case of an emergency, and prohibiting students from leaving campus during
class hours to ensure their safety.
Strategies for Rewards and Consequences
I intend to impose class rules and procedures that will hold students
accountable for their actions, and I believe that students will comply if
sanctions and rewards are attached to each rule.
102

Notice
After reading and reviewing the classroom remote learning management plan
from different sources and creating your own plan, answer the following
questions.
1. What salient component have you noted?
I noticed that as teachers, we should always be aware of each student's needs.
In order for students to learn and reflect, we must always consider their level of
comfort. This episode will focus on classroom routines and procedures.
2. Why is there need to utilize the information to create your classroom
management plan?
I believe there is a need to use the information to create my Classroom
management plan because having different options for what rules and
procedures are more effective for students will help me as a teacher to have an
effective classroom management plan for diverse students.
3. What were the significant things that you noticed when you were implementing
your plan?
The most important thing I've discovered while putting my plan into action is that
planning is the key to having a well-managed and organized classroom. The
Classroom Management Plan assists students in focusing on learning and
understanding what is expected of them. One of the primary goals of this plan is
to provide a healthy and effective learning environment while preventing
distractions within our school.
4. Were there items in your classroom / remote learning management plan which
were not tailored to the needs of your students? How will you improve on this?
No, and I believe that in order to improve, I should focus on the items that they
will use rather than those that will only be displayed in the classroom.
103

ANALYZE

1. What elements in your classroom/remote learning management

plan were mostly followed/complied?
The cleanliness of the classroom and the students' moral character
were mostly followed; respecting teachers and students, using
positive language, and so on.
2. What elements in your plan were the most difficult to implement?
Why?
"Be on time" was the most difficult aspect of my plan to implement
because some students have multiple household choirs and are
frequently late for class.

Notice

1. What factors did you consider in writing your lesson / learning

plans?
 When developing my lesson/learning plan, I kept my learners'
ages in mind to ensure that the language and activities I used are
appropriate for them. I'm also thinking about incorporating
different activities into performance tasks, because I want my
students to be able to express what they've learned in class. I
want to make my lessons more engaging and exciting so that my
students are motivated to learn.

2. What difficulties did you meet in writing your lesson / learning

plans?
 I'm having trouble imagining how I'll present the lesson and what
activities I'll include in my lesson plan because we're doing an
online class. Because I'm unfamiliar with how to make online
lessons engaging, I'm having difficulty deciding on specific
strategies to implement.

3. What feedback was/were given by your Resource Teacher in your

first draft lesson / learning plans?
 My resource teacher was unable to review my draft lesson plan
due to a lack of time and a hectic schedule. But she's ecstatic that
I passed the semi-in-depth lesson. I'm also confident that my
learning strategy can be improved.

4. What were the best features/areas for improvement of your/lesson

learning plans?
 In my opinion, the best part of my lesson is when I allow students
to solve problems in a variety of ways, such as drawing or using a
place value chart. I believe it has the potential to promote learning
because students will collaborate to explore and discover things
on their own. Meanwhile, one aspect of my lesson that I can
improve is the manner in which I will present the lessons. I need
to improve my teaching strategy to avoid boredom.

Why is lesson planning an integral part of the instructional cycle?

Because it serve as a guide of the teacher on how to process their

lesson. So that their pupils will able to learn fast and can initialize the
discussion properly. Lesson planning is a great factor especially for
the newly hired teachers in education field. If the educators are well-
prepared before going to the class it will go smoothly and her/his
wanted goal/objective will be done.

Why is lesson planning an integral part of the instructional cycle?

- Regardless of the level of detail, the importance of lesson planning

is that it bridges the curriculum's intent with the daily teaching and
learning in a classroom. At a minimum, lesson planning adds the
element of time, breaking the curriculum into units delivered each
session.

Why is lesson planning an integral part of the instructional cycle?

 Because it helps teachers to prepare ahead for what they want

their students to learn, the teaching and learning activities they will
employ, and how they will test understanding, lesson planning is a
crucial component of the instructional cycle. Additionally, it creates
a deadline for tasks that must be performed and enables teachers
to concentrate on what they need for their lesson and what they
want to teach.

Why is lesson planning an integral part of the instructional cycle?

 Lesson planning is an important part of the instructional cycle

because it enables teachers to plan ahead of time what they
want their students to learn, what teaching and learning
activities they will use, and how they will assess
understanding. It also allows teachers to focus on what they
need for their lesson, what they want to teach, and it establishes
a time frame for what must be completed

*Why is lesson planning an integral part of the instructional cycle?

 Lesson planning can help the teacher to be well prepared and be
aware of what he or she intends on teaching the students. To
meet your students expectations, one must have a good lesson
plan. To learn more about it should do our effective lesson plan . It
can help you as a teacher trainer to focus more on basic
knowledge first then take the students towards the next steps.

Action Research Prompts

OBSERVE
1. The problems challenges encountered in writing my learning
lesson plans arose as I considered how I would present the lesson
and what learning resources I would employ. I was having trouble
coming up with instructional strategies and learning resources that
would not bore or disengage the students because the class will be
held online. It was difficult to incorporate appropriate learning
resources that would meet the students' individual needs.

REFLECT
2. I hope to achieve to address these problems and challenges by
interviewing some teachers about the instructional strategies and
learning resources they used in their online classes. In addition, I plan
to attend webinars about various instructional strategies and learning
resources that I can use in my classroom. This will provide me with
knowledge of additional strategies or techniques that will improve the
learning experience of my class.

PLAN
3. Some strategies/solutions/means that I can employ to improve
these situations/Problems is I intend to use the strategies I’ve
included in my lesson plan, particularly the use of video
presentations, when discussing my lesson. I'll begin by administering
a pretest using the discussion method of teaching the lesson about
subtracting one-digit numbers with minuends through 18 and
subtracting one to two-digit numbers with minuends up to 99 without
regrouping, and then I’ll implement this strategy. Following that, I’ll
give students a post-test to see if their performance has improved.

ACT
4. Based on my answers in nos. 1-3, the possible title of my action
research on this episode is "A study of the effects of video
presentations on student engagement and performance in a first-
grade mathematics class."

A lesson plan is one of the

best ally that a teacher had. It
will help a teacher to have a
good outcome after the lesson.
Making a lesson plan is not as
easy as we think, cause there
are lot of to consider. But after
that we can discuss our lesson
smoothly.

A lesson plan serves as a guide that a teacher uses every day to determine what the students will learn,
how the lesson will be taught as well as how learning will
be

evaluated. Lesson plans enable teachers to function more effectively in the classroom by giving a detailed
outline that they adhere to during each class. Planning lessons ahead of time means teachers enter the
classroom each day fully prepared to teach new concepts and lead meaningful discussions – instead of
figuring things out as they go. Without a lesson plan, students can quickly lose focus and teachers may be
left scrambling, thinking of what to do next.

Following the development of my lesson plan, I realized that as a teacher, I must prepare a lesson plan so
that students believe the lessons given to them were in the right order, as well as I also learned that the
strategies, methods, and techniques used in lesson planning must encourage engaging student-
centered activities in order to promote higher learning processes and ensure that students retain the
lessons well. I also realized that creating a lesson plan is essential because it serves as a road map for
reaching your objectives. It serves as a guide for completing the lesson objectives. Furthermore, the
fact that lesson planning entails pre-planning your lesson gives me confidence to discuss the subject. I am
convinced that in order to ensure continuous learning, I must be fully prepared before I teach. A lesson
plan forces you to predict when you will be able to finish the entire unit of your lessons. "Failure to plan is
planning to fail," as the saying goes, and if you don't have a lesson plan, you're planning to fail at
delivering the lesson

My reflection in the lesson plan you have to think first the best topic
and also bets objective in your lesson plan , because it's the
important step in lesson plan the objective, if you have mistaken in
other steps , it's wrong , because you cannot follow your objective in
that steps in lesson plan , objective is the whole version of your
lesson plan it is the most important steps.in doing a lesson plan , I
can say that you must think in creating a lesson plan.

Personal Reflection in all portfolio

While doing our portfolio, I was be able to comeback on how

our life as a field study student in the field of teaching. It was great
feeling that we overcome all the hardships in participating to our
resource teachers life in teaching. We failed and learn some basic
strategy on how to get the attention of the pupils in the middle of
lesson. This portfolio will serve as our remembrance in the field study
area. This also might help us to improve our idea in making a better
way of discussion to our future pupils in internship. Because of this
portfolio I will be able to think that we’re done as a field study student
and we are preparing for being student-teacher in the next semester.
