ACTIVITY PLAN

Group 6: Kathija, Jacqueline, Lenny, Jannah, Tran.

Activity 1: emotion matching games

Objective:
children will be able to;
a.) recognize facial expressions.
b.) to work in pairs.
c.) identify how different emotions look like.

material / resources:
- laminated cards
- paper
- colour markers
- emotion colourful stickers

Lesson procedure:
1.) Tune-in introductions: 5 mins
- Sing emotions rhymes (If you’re happy and you know it)
- Tell them what the game is about (simply)
- Show them the emotions match games and show them the materials.
2.) Main activities: 25 mins
- Give each children a card of emotion ( angry , sad , happy and fear —-)
- They will need to find the partner of the same expression
- Ask them to show the emotion on the card by acting out
- Use the opportunity to let them socialise with their partner
- Try for a few rounds ensuring everyone gets to try out all the emotion
3.) Closure: 5 mins
- Ask them to show the expressions of what they know
- Ask them “Did you enjoy playing with your friends?”
- Dance to a song of emotions song ( This is a happy face)
4) Evaluation
Qns1 ) Were your objectives achieved? If so,what helped? If not, why?
Yes because kids now know how to recognize emotions through facial expressions because
of the emotion laminated cards. They also know how to interact with their friends and this
activity will give them the opportunity to create new friendships. They also know how to
differentiate emotions.

Qn 2) Are the learning objectives achievable?


Ans) Yes.

Qn 3) How else can you improve?


Ans) We can make it into a group work other than pairing up so that everybody can join the
fun and have a great time together.

Qn 4)Any means of parental involvement?


Ans) Yes because parents show them more emotions at home.

Activity 2: Role playing kitchen

Age of children: 3 yrs

Date of activity: 2 march 2022
Time/Duration of activity: 45 mins

Objective:
Children will be able to;
a.) finding simple ways to solve arguments and disagreements.
b.) show a variety of emotions beyond happiness, sadness, and anger.
c.) engage in pretend play.
d.) socialise with other kids.

materials / resources:
- kitchen toys [e.g. toy utensils, toy vegetables, toys meat , plates]
- DIY stove/ toy stove
- DIY apron / chef hat
- have a table of 4 soft toys ( for children to serve)

Lesson procedure:
1.) Tune-in introductions: 10mins
- do a little skit among the teachers to capture the children's attention. ( Act out being a
chef)
- tell them what they are going to play today (simply)
- give each kid their respective roles
- give them a heads up how to play their roles (don't tell them too much)

2.) Main activities: 30 mins


- Let them cook for each other / soft toys
- give them a storyline so that they can play according to their respective roles.
- using the opportunity to teach them about different types of vegetables and meats.

3.) Closure: 5 mins


- Ask them “What did they do or What food did they make with their friends?”
- ask them “ Did you have a good time playing with your friends?”

4) Evaluation
Qns1 ) Were your objectives achieved? If so,what helped? If not, why not?
Yes. children tried to express their agreements and disagreements through their action and
also their facial expression. They also learn to interact with one another by approaching
their friends when they want to play with the toys and use this opportunity to share the toys
and take turns. Children learn to communicate with each other too.

Ans) Yes

Qn 3) How else can you improve?


Ans) Can be improved by giving them less items to play to actually foresee more of them
sharing and trying to share with one another through many disagreements.

- Show them the emotions cards and show them the materials.
5.) Main activities: 20 mins
- Give each children a card of emotion ( angry , sad , happy ,surprised)
- Ask them to show the emotion on the card by acting out
- Try for a few rounds ensuring everyone gets to try out all the emotion
6.) Closure: 5 mins
- Ask them to show the expressions of what they know
- Ask them “Did you enjoy playing with your friends?”
- Ask them "What's your favourite emotion?"
- “What feelings are they feeling right now?’
