Learning This term students have been challenged to think critically about nutrition to make informed
Context: choices. Students have assessed the role of nutrition in fueling performance and explored the
nutrition requirements of elite and amateur athletes.
Task Students are required to analyse the performance and nutrition requirements for an elite athlete
Description: in a sport of their choice. Students will be required to explore the energy, and performance
requirements of the athlete to design a nutritional plan which targets the pre-event, during event
and post event meals.
Task Details:
Students are required to select an elite athlete in a sport of their choice to complete Part A and B.
Part B: Pre-event, during event and post event meal plan (15 marks)
Part B is to be presented in a TWO-THREE page document with size 12 font.
1. Create an original menu plan for the pre-event, during event/competition and post event meals (three meals
in total). You will be required to present the following information:
● Description of each meal including main ingredients , nutrients and nutrition information
● Pictures/images of each meal
● Justify why the meal meets the athletes performance and nutritional requirements
Submission Students are to submit their assessment task in hard copy to Miss Moore on the Nagle Paved
Instructions before morning pastoral on Tuesday 20th of September.
