1. What is history? How is it different from historiography?

When we talk about history, we're talking about everything that has ever happened.
Historians, on the other hand, use the term "historiography" to refer to their own writings.
Historians are interested in how human society has evolved over time.

2. What are the sources of history? Enumerate them.

Most historical sources, such as period newspaper articles, letters, governmental records,
original research reports and notes, and diaries, were created when the events you are researching
occurred. Also included may be memoirs and oral histories, made after the events but recalled
all.

3. How do historians write history?

When writing history, historians discuss the importance of primary sources, which are
sourced from a certain time period, while also being aware of their limitations. Non-historians
read books or watch documentaries, but historians also go to archives in search of original
records.

4. Who are some of the notable Filipino historians? What are their contributions to Philippine
historiography?

Encarnacion Alzona

- She wrote several books about the history of the Philippines because she was a historian.
She was known worldwide for how great she was, and she became the head of the
UNESCO Subcommittee on Social Science, Philosophy, and the Humanities. She was a
strong supporter of women's right to education and equal rights for men and women.
More importantly, her efforts to fight for equal rights for men and women will never be
forgotten, especially when women face problems at work and in their communities

Gregorio Zaide
- A prolific author, he authored 67 books, some of which were used as history textbooks in
secondary and higher education in the Philippines. He has also published over 500
historical articles in local and international periodicals. In 1957, Zaide became the first
Asian to receive the United Nations Study Award. In 1968, the Philippine government
honored him with the coveted Republic Cultural Heritage Award.

Esteban De Ocampo

- Because Esteban de Ocampo, In his book about Rizal, a historian defined a hero as a
prominent or central personage taking a good part in any memorable deed or event; a
person of outstanding heroism or enterprise in danger; and a man honored after death by
popular worship for significant service to humankind. True heroes of Philippine history
didn't know they'd be measured up; they merely acted on their ideals.
