DENGUE AMIDST COVID-19 PANDEMIC

RATIONALE

The Antique Provincial Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response Unit recorded a total of 346 Dengue
cases from January 1 to December 31,2021 where the Municipality of Hamtic was recorded as the
municipality with the highest number of cases, and 5 deaths from the municipalities of Hamtic, Bugasong and
Pandan.

In this regard, simultaneous ocular inspections were conducted at Brgy.Magdalena , Anini-y, Antique,
Brgy.Mapatag and Villavert-Jimenez Hamtic Antique last July 2, 2021, and September 23, 2021 with the team
from Environmental Sanitation of the Infectious Cluster, Health Education and Promotion Unit together with
the Brgy. Officials and Health workers from the Rural Health Unit of Anini–y and Hamtic, Antique. Minimum
Health Standard protocols were observed during the duration of the inspection.

Campaigns for Dengue prevention were conducted at Municipalities of Sibalom, Patnongon, Laua an, Hamtic
and Anini-y Antique and Surveillance Activities were also held on the Municipalities of Hamtic, Anini-
y,Bugasong and Barbaza, Antique. Social media campaigns for Dengue Prevention is also being done using
the official page of the Integrated Provincial Health Office – Antique.

Weekly update on the logistics for Dengue is also being done and assistance to every LGU in need of
supplies such as solution for flying pest and vector borne disease control, larvicides and Rapid Diagnostic
Testing Kits for Dengue NS1 is also being monitored.

OUTPUT
The following activities were held for the program
1. A constant monitoring and massive house to house “KAYA- KULOB” and 4 S strategy campaign
by the Brgy Local Government Unit was conducted in the respective barangays with dengue
cases.
2. Validated the implementation of “KAYA- KULOB” and 4s strategy in every household
implemented by the Barangay Officials and residents.
3. Updated the reports and attended the virtual meetings on Dengue Program was done to easily
monitor and evaluate the RHUs because of the pandemic.
