TEXT TYPE is a way of classifying and defining different types of language

interaction both spoken and written. Factual texts are written for various purposes – to
inform, instruct, or persuade by giving facts and information.
Paragraph A (Classification Text Type)
A factual text type that classifies, describes, and gives true information
about people, animals, things, or phenomena is called an informational report. It
begins with a general classification or definition, then lists a sequence of related
information about the topic, and ends with a concluding comment. A classification
text type is meant to arrange or sort ideas/things into groups with common
characteristics.

Paragraph B (Explanation Text Type)

A factual text type that explains how or why something happens is an

explanation. It begins with the topic, describes items related to the topic in the
right order, and explains how these items related to each other. It may have a
conclusion. This text type is written in the present tense.

3
Paragraph C (Enumeration Text Type)
An enumeration paragraph or text lists the kinds, characters, classes,
types, parts, ways, and groups of a thing or subject. Transition/signal words used
to show enumeration are the following, in many ways, such as, first or one,
second or next, and so on.

Paragraph D (Time-order Text Type)

Some paragraphs or text are developed through logical order - time or
chronological order and a sequence-of-importance.

In time or chronological order, the sentences are arranged in the order in

which the events they described happened. This text is called a recount.
Transition/signal words that may be used in these texts include first, next, then,
and finally.

In sequence-of-importance, the ideas are built from the least important

detail to the most important detail, or from the most important detail to the least
important. This is called a sequence.

Another time-order text type is the process or how-to text. This text gives
directions. Each sentence tells the next step in carrying out a process or getting
from one place to another. Transition or signal words that may be used to show
the order of steps include first, second, third, then, before, after, during,
meanwhile, etc.
