The former Consumer Protection Law of 2014 was repealed on March 15, 2019, when Myanmar's new

Consumer Protection Law went into effect. This regulation also improved the Product Labeling Notice
No. 1/2018, which the Central Committee released in October 2018.

The new law stipulates the following details, including labeling:

1. The products' trademarks

2. The general name of the item, its dimensions, net weight, number, instructions for usage, and storage
requirements

3. Batch number, manufacturing date, and expiration date

4. The importer and manufacturer's names and addresses for imported items

5. For imported items, the place of manufacturing and repackaging

6. The constituents' names, types, and proportions of raw materials

7. Advisers or side effects for allergies

• The growing number of health-conscious, middle-class and affluent consumers has increased demand
for organic foods and products in recent years. Also, because quick food, instant coffee, and instant
noodles are common in today's hectic lifestyle, fast food companies are obtaining a significant market
share in Myanmar. This type of opportunity is available to Belgian food and beverage suppliers.

• Local players in Myanmar are eager to collaborate with global companies in order to adopt new
technology and grow their company. Also, the government promotes trade and business in Myanmar
using foreign goods.

• There are several options to travel as the number of hotels, restaurants, and pubs with international
standards rises.
