In many developing countries, there is a problem with declining quality of air and water from both

industry and construction. What measures could be taken to prevent this?

It is a fact that the standard of air and water are falling in growing economies due to industrialisation
and mass construction. I believe that Government initiatives and public awareness can be helpful to
counter these challenges.

There are many industrial activities that pollute water. For example, in the textile industry. Water
gets used in a huge amount to wash the fabric at various process, this water then gets released into
rivers and canals and that pollutes fresh water. Government can introduce policies and make it
mandatory for textile companies to have mandatory water processing plant where waste water gets
filtered and reduce water pollution.

Industrial activities that lead to emitting more smoke is a big casue of air pollution. It is difficult to
process smoke but at least companies can use efficient machines that emit less smoke into air.
Public awareness about negative effects will certainly encourage companies to engage in initiatives
such as planting more trees around the factory so the misty atmosphere help to keep smoke and
dust in control.

Growing countries will have demand of new infrastructre and threfore it is expected to have more
construction work. But using equipments such as thin wooden walls and fabric cloths around
building will certainly help not to spread the dust around. Govenment can introduce policies to sease
the construction work in summar season where air is dry and spread more dust.

To conclude, as the industrialist are also part of the society, it is likely that they will respond to public
campaigns on air and water pollution and do the needful. At same time, government directions will
force the businesses to act in order to reduce the air and water pollution cased by industries and
construction companies.
