Life and Works of Rizal

HIS C301-101E

Performance Task 1: Video Analysis

History, defined as the in-depth and concise analysis and interpretation of gathered data
about a phenomenal event and human activities mandated back in the past to acquaint explicit
queries. The past has introduced us into a contrarian stance. The life of a national hero is often
discussed to briefly expound a past occurrence. The life of a national hero is elaborated to
inaugurate their contribution to our culture, nationalism, literary works, and to our current
country's reformation. We will undoubtedly have a never-ending cycle of honorable youth who
will later become leaders if all inherit this level of concern and devotion for the nation.
(Galarosa, n.d.)

Republic Act No. 1425, the Rizal Law. The law requires students from colleges or
universities to take a course related to the life, works, and writings of Rizal as a form of Filipino
nationalism. The republican act was denounced by umpteen individuals considering its added
burden on students. Nationalism establishes a uniformity of alliance with the state or nation.
Philippine history is viewed as a tedious and unnecessary study, and nationalism is evident as a
result of it being compulsory rather than voluntary. Professor Xiao utters, "Dapat mahal nang
bata ang bayan pagkatapos aralin and kursong ito," an intent that is quite possibly inevitable. The
Philippines may have been freed decades ago, but there is still an invincible chain that still
connects us to our colonizers.
