Background
The Asian Christian Higher Education Institute (ACHEI) organized the first Asian
Christian Faculty Fellowship (ACFF) at Payap University in Chiangmai, Thailand in
2002. The second conference was hosted by Madras Christian College in India in 2004,
and the third was held in Hong Kong in 2006. In 2004, the ACFF Federation was
established with office bearers of the Federation chosen from different countries.
Participants in these conferences came from Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India,
Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Myanmar, the Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand.
Now, the ACFF Federation, in collaboration with ACHEI, ACFF Indonesia, BKPTI and
Universitas Pelita Harapan, is organizing the fourth regional fellowship-conference in
Bali, Indonesia on 13-16 November 2008. As the Christian higher education institutions
in Asia face identical issues, challenges and opportunities of pluralism, organizers have
chosen “Religious Pluralism and Higher Education in Asia” as the conference theme. As
in the past, the 2008 conference provides an opportunity to faculty members in Asia who
promote the ideals of the Christian faith to come together for continuing education and
fellowship and to present papers relevant to the identified theme.
The Federation will constitute a Central Committee for the consideration, evaluation
and selection of abstracts that will be developed for presentation in the 2008
conference. Those whose papers will be selected may be granted international travel
subsidy (economy class).
