CONTENT STANDARD:
The learners demonstrate understanding of fitness and exercise in optimizing one’s
health as a habit; as requisite for physical activity assessment performance, and as a
career opportunity.

PERFORMANCE STANDARD:
The learners lead fitness events with proficiency and confidence resulting in
independent pursuit and in influencing others positively.

ENABLING LEARNING OUTCOMES:


At the end of this lesson, you are expected to do the following:
ELO 1. Demonstrate understanding of the Sipa game.
ELO 2. Explain the advantages of the Sipa game.
ELO 3. Perform the sipa hand control shadowing.

Information 1. Sipa
A native ball made of a hollow sphere of rattan was kicked back and fourth but it
was not supposed to touch the ground. A highly – skilled players could deftly kick the
ball over their heads or about their sides while directing it to a definite player. The
game was played as singles or doubles, and four or eight players on one team.
Players played sipa in three ways:
a. Lambatan or by net
b. Bilangan or by points
c. Mudansa or fancy kicking exhibition

Aim of the Sipa game is to kick a soft ball made out of rattan fragments,back and
forth over a net in the middle of the court. The sport requires speed, agility and
ball control.

Activity 1.2 Sipa “ Bilangan “ hand control drills
Watch the video https://youtu.be/_eUxwaj9odk and practice hand control ( elbow
pit and elbow side only) for 20 times and submit your video to your P.E teacher via
email address.

Processing Question:
1. How will you improve your performance on the hand control of sipa?
2. How will the hand control and your improvised sipa will contribute to your
performance?

Shadowing practice of the basic drills / skills in Sipa hand control from the above
video do the hand control skills 30 times video yourself while doing the basic hand
control shadowing drills , send your video to your P.E Teacher via email address.
Processing Question:
1. Are you able to do the shadowing skills/drills consistently reducing not just
errors but also the opportunity to improve your self-confidence?
2. What are the strategies and techniques you used in performing sipa?

Activity 1.4 Power up Sipa


From the activity 1.3 enhance your practice drills by adding 30 times on
your workout for mastery, video yourself and send it to your P.E teacher

1. Does it help you improve in your basic sipa hand control skills?
2. What else have you learned from these basic sipa hand control drills?
