MARGOT

Scene 1: INT. VILLEGAS CASINO - LOUNGE - BAR - DAY22

Kai, carrying a tray, moves through the lounge area with another cocktail waitress, MARGOT,
closer to middle age, but with a hard-boiled, sexy Jessica Rabbit quality.

MARGOT: So you’ll be shadowing me for your first week or two. I can tell you’re smart. You’ll
pick it up quick.

KAI: Thanks.

MARGOT: Don’t thank me. It’s not brain surgery. I’ve worked in Casinos all over the world.
You’d be surprised how many people mess up a simple job.

They arrive at the bar.

MARGOT (CONT’D): (to the BARTENDER) Two mango mojitos and vodka and calamansi
juice.

Her eyes rise up toward the mirrored ball in the ceiling.

MARGOT (CONT’D): They’re watching, you know. Extra close because it’s your first day of
training.

KAI: I’m guessing they’ll be watching on my 100th day as well.

Johnny enters and plops himself down on a bar stool next to Margot. The bartender gives him a
beer without asking.

MARGOT: Hey, Johnny. How’s it going?

JOHNNY: Better since I’m looking at you.

MARGOT: Say hello to Natalie. First day.

JOHNNY: Welcome to the Villegas.

MARGOT: Johnny’s a Villegas. He’s the head of security here.

JOHNNY: Not anymore.

MARGOT: What?!

JOHNNY That slick sonofabitch Coyne moved me out.

Margot is genuinely upset for Johnny.

MARGOT: (to Kai) Give us a second, will ya, honey?

Kai steps away but this is definitely the kind of human intel she’s there for.

Scene 2: EXT. PORT AUTHORITY - CONTAINER AREA - DAY 54

The two guards and Isko carry the bags of money, while Margot keeps a gun trained on Johnny
as they walk through the maze of shipping containers.

JOHNNY: You don’t really think you’re going to

get away with this, do you?

MARGOT: You’re so naive. Still think the good guys always win.

Isko finds the container they’re looking for.

ISKO: This is the one!

MARGOT: Put the money into the container. It’ll be shipped off within the hour.

ISKO: And what about the old guy?

MARGOT: We’ll put his body in the container too. That way, no one will find him.

Margot lifts her gun to Johnny’s head.

JOHNNY: But you said you cared about me.

MARGOT: Aw, baby. That was just pillow talk.

Just as she’s about to pull the trigger, Isko gets the container doors open, revealing two OLDER
GUNMAN waiting inside, guns leveled at Isko and the guards.

OLDER GUNMAN #1: Hold it right there!

MARGOT: Whaa...?

Just then, a dozen OLDER RIFLEMEN appear from the roofs of the surrounding containers, all
with their weapons at the ready.

JOHNNY It appears, my dear, that you’re surrounded.

The guards, Isko, and Margot lift their hands in surrender, just as Alex, Kai, Ernesto, and Coyne
come running up. Two of Coyne’s men follow behind quickly. All with weapons drawn.

ANN: Uncle Johnny? What’s going on here?

JOHNNY: Hello, Ann, meet my old teammates from my Private Detective days. They may be
older now, but they’re still loyal and still fantastic shots.

MARGOT: But how--?

JOHNNY: (to Ann) Margot and I had been casually flirting with each other. But when I told her I
was no longer the head of security, she was genuinely rattled.
(to Margot) I could see it in your eyes. You were recalculating. (to Alex) It made me suspicious.
So I decided to drop some bait and see if she would take it.

ALEX: So you told her about our plan.

JOHNNY: And the more I told her, the more chummy she got with me. So I knew if she WAS
going to rob the Casino while we went out the service entrance, she and her team would have
to leave from the employee entrance by the loading docks. Sure enough, there she was.

ERNESTO: But you had people here waiting to get the drop on her?

KAI: How did you know she’d bring you here?

Johnny turns back to Margot.

JOHNNY: When you pulled the “let me slip into something more comfortable” routine, I went
through your purse and saw you booked a hotel room in Guam for tomorrow night. I checked
the port authority records and saw a container ship was leaving for there today. And only ONE
container was listed as “private and personal”. This one.

ERNESTO: Well, lady and gentleman, you are all under arrest. Let’s get them out of here.

Johnny, Kai, and Ernesto lead the “Trask Team” away. The Older Gunmen exit as well. Ann
walks over to Alex, Coyne, and his two guards.
ANN: And we need to get this money back to the Casino. Lend a hand?

Ann and Alex grab the bags, but behind them, Coyne and his two guards lift their pistols at Ann
and Alex.

COYNE I don’t think you’ll be taking those anywhere.

Character:
JOHNNY

Scene 1: INT. POLICE VAN - CONTINUOUS 45

Ernesto enters to find, Alex, Kai, Johnny, and Angelo. Alex and Kai are back in normal clothes.
Johnny is counting the money, placing it into a suitcase.

JOHNNY: That’s it! Exactly how much we

needed to steal.

ERNESTO: I hate to admit it, but crime is fun.

KAI: Don’t get use to it.

Ernesto laughs. Johnny seals up the suitcase.

JOHNNY: Okay, you guys bring this to Ann and Coyne. I’m going to grab my computer from
my office inside. I’ve documented the entire crime on it, step by step, so we can show them
how we did it. Can’t wait to rub it in Coyne’s face.

ALEX: Sometimes good old human resources beat the algorithms, huh, Johnny?

Johnny gives him a high five and hands over the suitcase. Alex, Kai, and Ernesto take off with
the loot. Johnny turns to Angelo.

JOHNNY: Nice work. I could use a guy like you in security.

ANGELO: Cool, cuz I could use a job.

JOHNNY: Okay, while I’m gone, change back all those I.D.’s we flagged. Put everything back
the way it was.

ANGELO: You got it.

Johnny exits the Van.

Scene 2: EXT. VILLEGAS CASINO - EMPLOYEE ENTRANCE/LOADING DOCK - 47

MOMENTS LATER Johnny heads for the entrance when he runs into Margot coming out the
door. There is an awkward moment. Margot seems uneasy, caught.

JOHNNY: What’re you doing here, baby? Leaving early?

MARGOT: Uh... looking for you…

JOHNNY: You’re not going to believe it. But it worked! It actually worked!

Isko and two security guards pour out the door and onto the loading dock.

ISKO: (to Margot) We’ve got to go. Now. Why is he here?

JOHNNY: Margot? What is this?

MARGOT: (to Johnny, sadly) Can’t you do anything right?

She gives the guards a look and they all DRAW THEIR WEAPONS on Johnny.

MARGOT: (CONT’D) Don’t kill him here. Take him with us.

BARTON COYNE

Scene 1: INT. VILLEGAS CASINO - ANN'S PENTHOUSE - COMMAND ROOM - DAY50

Alex, Kai, and Ernesto are next to each other -- like in a line-up, only they are seated. Ann’s
having a mini-breakdown. She paces around the room.

ANN: This can’t be happening!

ALEX: I understand that you’re upset but you asked me to test the security. ANN Your “test”
allowed the Trask gang to hit my casino for 36 million dollars!

Coyne spins and points an accusing finger at Alex.

COYNE: You! You ruined my reputation with a stupid prank!

ANN: (to Coyne) Maybe you should look in the mirror, Barton!
COYNE: You hire someone to rob your casino and don’t tell me, and it’s my fault?

ANN: It was a test!

ALEX: (under his breath) Fail.

COYNE: Do you realize what you’ve done? I had intel that Trask had people inside at the
Villegas. I was setting a trap to expose them. But you two had to play your little game.

ERNESTO: You knew the Trask gang was here? And you didn’t tell the police?!

COYNE: I was going to wrap up the whole gang. Trask himself was embedded here. We
couldn’t identify him but I had solid information that he was trying to turn your Uncle Johnny,
that’s why I had to let him go.

ANN: Uncle Johnny?

KAI: But he wasn’t working with Trask, he was working with us.

ALEX (to Coyne): He doesn’t like you.

ERNESTO: Where is Johnny? He was supposed to meet us here.

ANN: I can’t believe this is happening.

Alex gets up and starts to pace.

ALEX: Let’s be logical. If Trask used our fake heist as a cover for an even bigger heist, then it
has to be an inside job (to Ann) Did you tell anyone about what we had planned?

ANN: How could I tell anyone? You didn’t even tell me! Until I saw what was happening on the
security cameras, I had no idea what you guys were up to.

ALEX: (to Ernesto) What about Angelo? Could he have told anyone?

ERNESTO: He’s been by my side since we brought him in. He wouldn’t tell a soul.

ALEX: That only leaves Johnny.

ANN: Uncle Johnny is loyal to this family. He would never do anything to hurt us!

KAI: It’s Margot! I heard Johnny say he saw her last night. He was desperate to impress her.
He has a big crush on her.
MASON: (to Coyne) Pull up everything the database has on Margot.

Scene 2: EXT. PORT AUTHORITY - CONTAINER AREA - RESUME SCENE55

Coyne and his two guards have guns pointed at the backs of Alex’s and Ann’s heads.

COYNE: Throw the bags out to us and then step inside the container.

ALEX: Oh, what? You’re going to take the money and shoot us. Leaving our bodies in the
container?

COYNE: You catch on quick.

ALEX: Yeah, I don’t think so.

Alex, unfazed, slowly walks towards Coyne.

COYNE: I wouldn’t come any closer.

ALEX: You know how Johnny spotted Margot and set her up to fail? Well, I spotted you. I knew
you were the real James Trask from the very beginning.

COYNE: Did you really? So you also have old gunmen who are about to pop out of nowhere
and rescue you?

ALEX: Don’t need ‘em. I simply took the bullets out of all of your guns.

For a quick second, Coyne and the guards look down at their guns to check. It only takes that
flash for Alex to ATTACK. In a BLAZE of fists, grabs, and flips, Alex takes out the guards and
PINS Coyne to the ground.

Ann picks up the three fallen pistols. One falls from her grip and GOES OFF, firing a shot into
one of the containers.

ANN: I thought you said you removed their bullets?

ALEX: Did I?

Alex winks at Ann who can’t help but smile back.

MASON GILL

Scene 1: INT. VILLEGAS CASINO - ANN’S PENTHOUSE - CONTINUOUS 2

The doors open and the lights automatically turn on in this luxury apartment. ANN VILLEGAS is
led in by her UNCLE JOHNNY, 60s, and President of Operations, MASON GILL.

JOHNNY: This was to be your father’s penthouse apartment. Every detail built to his exact
specifications.

MASON: It’s a tragedy he died before it was finished.

JOHNNY: The security technology built into this apartment is second to none. And now that
you’ve inherited by brother's position as CEO of our family's businesses, we think it’s best for
you to make this your home.

MASON: Especially considering the break-in and shoot-out that happened at your house a few
months ago.

Ann nods and walks over to the enormous glass doors overlooking the city of Cebu below. She
stares out -

ANN: It’s just all so-

JOHNNY: Overwhelming?

ANN: It’s an enormous responsibility, Uncle Johnny.

MASON: I’ve been Head of Operations for over 20 years. I knew your father well. He believed
in you, Ann.

JOHNNY: We all do. You have the backing of the entire family.

ANN: I will do my best to live up to the confidence entrusted in me.

MASON: Come, let me show you the command center.

Mason leads them out of the living room.

Scene 2: INT. VILLEGAS CASINO - ANN'S PENTHOUSE - CONTINUOUS 57

There is a KNOCK at the door. Ann opens it to find Johnny standing on the other side.
JOHNNY: I was told you wanted to see me?

ANN: Yes, please, step inside.

As Johnny enters he is overwhelmed to find the room filled with people: Loyal security staff,
waitresses, pit bosses, and dealers. And entering from another room, Mason joins them.

JOHNNY: What is all this? It’s not my birthday.

Ann turns and nods to Mason, who walks over holding a badge.

MASON: As Head of Operations, it is my privilege to reinstate you as Head of Security for

Villegas Family Businesses.

The room erupts in APPLAUSE. Johnny is speechless.

ANN: And let me personally apologize to you for ever allowing anyone to come between us.

Johnny is moved. He hugs his niece tightly.

KID

Scene: INT. VILLEGAS CASINO - UPPER BALCONY - MINUTES LATER 25

Alex’s attention is pulled as he HEARS the sound of Ann’s voice.

ANN (O.S.): That’s very kind of you. I know you’ve worked at the finest casinos all over the
globe.

Alex ducks down behind his carpet-washing machine as he sees Ann and Coyne exiting the
high-roller VIP room. She’s laughing. He’s laughing. There is an intimacy in the way they are
interacting.

COYNE: It’s true but there is something so authentic about this place.

They stop at the railing, Coyne pointing to the building facades adorning the walls.

COYNE (CONT’D): These facades, for instance. What is the story behind them?
ANN: Those are replicas of all the original buildings of the city of Cebu when it was first built.

COYNE: That’s incredible.

ANN: My family puts a great deal of value on Filipino history and traditions. This was an
important representation for my father.

Coyne turns and faces Ann, sincere.

COYNE: Yes, there is something special about this place. And the people who run it.

Ann gives an embarrassed smile, takes his arm and leads Coyne down the STAIRS. Alex,
annoyed, moves to follow them but feels a HAND on his shoulder. He spins around to be
eyeball to eyeball with a pudgy KID.

KID: I lost my airpods.

ALEX: What?

KID: My airpods fell off and I think your carpet thing ate them.

Alex pulls some cash and hands it to the kid.

ALEX: Here.

KID: What is this?

ALEX: Money to buy another pair.

KID: They cost more than that.

ALEX’S POV... Ann and Coyne are nearly out of view. Alex gives him some more money.

ON THE KID... instead of looking happy -- he looks alarmed.

KID (CONT’D): They’re nine hundred pesos.

ALEX: That’s all the cash I’ve got.

KID: You can get more from the A.T.M.

The kid points to the ATM machine. Alex looks from the machine to the receding Ann and
Coyne. They are too far for him to catch up. He sighs, filled with frustration. He turns back to
the ATM MACHINE.

An idea strikes Alex. He goes into calculation mode.

Character:
SECURITY MAN

Scene: INT. VILLEGAS CASINO - MAIN FLOOR - DAY 10

As Alex takes in the large gaming floor, a SECURITY GUARD, wearing a Villegas casino blazer
and earpiece, sidles up and takes him by the arm.

SECURITY MAN: Come with me, Mr. Murphy.

Alex jerks himself free.

ALEX: Mr. Murphy?

SECURITY MAN: Don’t give us any trouble.

ALEX: I’m not Mr. Murphy and I’m here to see

Ann Villegas.

SECURITY MAN: Of course you are.

A SECOND SECURITY MAN appears at Alex’s other side and both men roughly grab hold.

Alex pulls away again, and one of the men tries to put him in CHOKE HOLD. Bad idea. Alex
snaps forward, judo FLIPPING the man.

The other guard pulls out his TASER, but Alex takes hold of his wrist and twists, sending the
taser dart straight into the guard’s foot...

As a phalanx of MORE GUARDS descend on Alex.

ALEX: Hey--hold up! You have the wrong guy!

But the guards aren’t buying it. They all whip out tasers and are about to zap him, when...

ANN (O.C.): STOP!!

Everyone looks to see Ann racing over from across the casino.

ANN (CONT’D): (to Alex) Are you okay?

ALEX: I’m fine.

SECURITY MAN: (getting to his feet) He was identified by I.C.S.D.B.

ALEX: The I.C. what?

OLDER GUNMAN #1

Scene 1: INT. VILLEGAS CASINO - SECURITY CONTROL ROOM - DAY9

ON A BANK OF SECURITY MONITORS... We MOVE IN ON one of the monitors and SEE Alex
walking through the sparsely populated casino.

At the bottom of the screen, AN ALERT appears: “ICSDB - THREAT DETECTED”. Then, the
image ZOOMS IN on Alex’s face: “ANALYSIS IN PROGRESS”, and then flashing red letters:
“RECOGNITION”.

We WIDEN to see ISKO, a hardened security man, 40s. Standing behind him is Barton Coyne.
They both stare at the screen.

A PICTURE of Alex taken a half-dozen years ago appears. The name “FELIX MURPHY” and
the words “CARD CHEAT” along with other information in smaller print.

ISKO: Looks like we’ve got a bogie.

COYNE: A little early in the day for a blackjack cheat.

ISKO: I don’t know, mornings are slow. Maybe he thinks we won’t be paying attention.

COYNE: Now is as good a time as any to test our removal protocol.

Isko speaks into his headset.

ISKO: (into headset) I.C.S.B.D. has I.D.’d a black hat entering the casino…

Scene 2: INT. VILLEGAS CASINO - SECURITY CONTROL ROOM - SAME19

Isko and Coyne show concern. Isko ZOOMS IN on the two men as they begin to SCUFFLE.

ISKO: (into headset) Belligerents. Sector G-14.

COYNE: (cooly) Bad look. Not the Villegas brand. Get them out. Now.

ISKO: (into headset) 86 them.

COYNE: I have to go. I’ve got some things to discuss with Miss Villegas. As Coyne exits…
