Safe Food Handling, Kitchen Hygiene & the Microorganisms We Battle!


 This INDIVIDUAL assignment requires you to choose a bacteria that is commonly present when
we do not use proper kitchen hygiene and safe food handling practices

 You are required to create a visual representation of a common bacteria that caused Food Bourne
Illness IN COMBINATION with facts, data and statistics to support your representation.

 This can be done using creative materials provided in the classroom OR you can submit a digital
visual representation as well! If you are choosing the second option, keep in mind that it has to be
equally colorful, creative and representative of the success criteria required.

 This visual must include the following in order to meet the success criteria:

1) Scientific name of the bacteria

2) a drawing or picture of the bacteria that helps your audience understand WHERE the bacteria is
normally found and HOW it most commonly spreads

3) symptoms of the illness that it causes

4) incubation period for the bacteria (how long are you sick for) and how to treat the FBI

5) Find an article on line that identifies a public case or breakout of this bacteria due to improper
food handling/storage or hygiene. (if you are making a poster, print out & paste this on the back)

6) attach a list of “HONEY DEW or DIE” Kitchen Hygiene, Handling and Storage Tips for your readers
(MINIMUM OF TEN (10) POINTS)

Is my poster/digital product colorful; would it capture a reader’s attention?
Does my poster/digital product have questions #1 -#6 answered somewhere in it?
Did I include my “HONEY DEW or DIE” list of Kitchen Hygiene, Handling and Storage?
