1.0 PURPOSE
The purpose of this method statement is to describe the method of works and detailed sequences
for BUTTERFLY DAMPER INSTALLATION

4.0 DEFINITIONS/ ABBREVIATIONS:


 ITP: Inspection Test Plan
 QCP: Quality Control Procedure
 HSE: Health, Safety and Environment
 QA/QC: Quality Assurance / Quality Control

 QC Inspector: Company / Contractor / Sub-contractor personnel as applicable

5.0 RESPONSIBILITES:
 PROJECT MANAGER –The contractor Project Manager has the overall responsibility
for the execution of the project.
 CONSTRUCTION MANAGER - The Subcontractor Construction Manager has the
overall responsibility to carry out the WORK. The Subcontractor Construction manager
has ensured compliance by all labor & equipment operators and other associated
craftsmen in the execution of this activity as per approved document of this procedure,
Project Quality Control procedures/ test plan, relevant drawings, safety procedure and
project specifications. Secure all necessary work permit
 SITE ENGINEER - The Subcontractor Site Engineer is responsible for the supervision
and implementation of any concreting activity on a daily basis in coordinating with the
CM, Surveyor and Foreman. Any discrepancy in the drawings and site condition and any
problem that may arise on the site shall be resolved by Subcontractor Site Engineer in
coordination with other involved persons.
 QC ENGINEER / INSPECTOR - Shall be responsible for preparation of ITP with
relevant report forms and obtaining client approval. Monitor daily activities and verify
compliance with the client specifications and Issued for Construction (GFC) drawings.
Conduct activities in accordance with the project QA Manual and Quality Control
Inspection Plan. Prepare QC records and final acceptance documentation. Submit final as
built drawing
 HSE ENGINEER / OFFICER - Shall ensure all work permits are available prior to
commence of any work. Review personnel and their compliance with safety
requirements, such as wearing Personnel Protection Equipment (PPE). Check work areas
for any unsafe conditions. Liaise with Field Supervisors and Foremen that work is carried
out in accordance with Project Safety Plan / Procedure.
 CONSTRUCTION TEAM (CT) - Subcontractor construction team comprises with
Construction manager, Site Engineers, and Foremen each holds their own responsibility
for the execution of this activity shall directed by Construction Manager who holds the
responsibility to perform the activity by all terms accepted & approved

6.0 EQUIPMENT / TOOLS


 Tool Box with Screwdriver, Pliers, Spanner, Hammer, Hack saw Farm
 Drilling Machine with various Bits, Grinding & Cutting Machine
 Marker, Measuring tape, Level gauge / Spirit level.
 Removable Barricades
 Ladder and mobile scaffolding
 Power tool

7.0 MATERIAL:
Material to be used for the tasks mentioned, approved materials submitted /approval process and
inspected on arrival to site for technical and material compliance by the relevant parties in
accordance with the approved ITP project Quality Management plan.
 Butterfly damper
 Duct Sealant.
 Angles and supports
8.0 PROCEDURE:
 Make sure that the shop/GFC drawing is approved before commencing the work.
 Any works in confined spaces will be subject to a separate specific risk assessment and
with a safety Permit.
 All materials used at site will be as per the approval.
 Ensure that the manufacturer’s instructions and installation details are available and have
been reviewed prior to commencing any installation works

9.0 INSTALLATION
 Get the necessary permits, get all required material to the work location
 All butterfly dampers shall be installed in accordance with standard and drawings.
 All butterfly dampers operated manually shall have a handle which can be lock to a
certain setting.
 Butterfly connected with branch duct with help self-tapping screw
 Butterfly damper properly to be connected to flexible duct
 Duct sealant will be applied at joints in order to arrest air leakages.
