Discuss three (3) benefits of diversity in the tourism and hospitality workplace
The benefits on having an increased productivity in a diverse workplace in the
tourism and hospitality industry has an efficient resource management that can lead to
increased production rates at cheaper costs, faster time to market with guaranteed
quality, lower overhead expenses, more profits for stakeholders, higher per capita
income generated, and overall corporate growth and prosperity. In the tourist and
hospitality industry, having creative people in a diverse workplace can be beneficial for
meeting a company's goals and developing as those needs change and this leads to an
increased creativity. They are capable of logical thinking and find solutions to problems
when they occur. Those that are creative should work in settings that promote creativity
and ideas. In addition to keeping companies competitive in good times, coming up with
new concepts is extremely important during challenging times like the recent pandemic.
To aid hotels and other travel businesses in adjusting to the changing times, creative
ideas are needed. Also, having cultural awareness is crucial in the tourism and
hospitality industry because it allows employees to interact better with one another,
create stronger relationships, and boost employee morale and engagement. Cultural
awareness can assist you in breaking down barriers between cultures and building
bridges by teaching you to accept and respect those who are different from you. As we
learn more about ourselves and our own culture, we’ll gain experience relating to others
with different cultural backgrounds.
