The diagrams depict the developments of Colwick Arts Centre during

seventeen years starting from 2005.

In general, the place witnessed dramatic changes to make maximum use

of the area. It’s noticeable that three striking modifications were made was the
transformation of the wasteland, the addition and the relocation of several
buildings.

Looking at the changes in more detail, we can see that in 2005 there was
a huge bare place beyond the buildings, which were no longer present in 2022.
Instead, we see the addition of a U-shaped green space with a stage,
performance area, an outdoor exhibition in the middle. Some pairs of park
benches and tables were put in the bottom left and right-hand corners for
visitors to stop to rest. They also established a new drama studio in the
northeast of the central exhibition area to adopt new approaches to attracting
people to come more regularly and stay longer.
The two maps also show that while galleries were merged and relocated
to the left, meeting rooms were separated into two and relocated to the top left-
hand corner. The concert hall and cinema now are two different buildings,
situated next to each other. A central exhibition area was created with an
information desk, which stays the same, in front of it. Besides, the snack bar
was expanded and converted to a cafe whereas the toilet was decreased in size
and moved to the opposite side of the Centre.
