a. Maps
The plans show the modifications that a university would like to make to its art
gallery. The image on the top shows the art gallery as it is at present and the image
below that shows the art gallery once the renovations have been completed.
As can be seen from the first image, the current entrance to the gallery is on the
right-hand side of the building and visitors pass through a large lobby before
entering the gallery itself. One of the proposed changes is to allow entrance on to
the main exhibition area, where an existing entrance will be widened. At present,
the exhibition rooms are divided into three separate areas. According to the plans,
the dividing walls will be removed and one large exhibition space will be created. Art
can then be displayed on the walls around the room as well as on a large central
wall.
A further major change is to an area on the far left of the building that is used as an
office at present. This area is currently divided into small rooms but will be opened
up to create one large exhibition space. In addition, the gallery will gain an education
centre. This area will replace the existing lobby, which will also be enlarged to create
a more functional space with a large table and seating. If these plans are carried out,
then not only will the art gallery increase the exhibition areas but will also gain an
educational facility. Relocating the entrance to the gallery will give visitors an
immediate view of the main exhibition areas. ( 265 words)
b. Bar charts
The chart gives information about the kinds of leisure activity engaged in by three
distinct groups: native Australians, recently arrived immigrants from English-
speaking countries and new migrants for whom English is not the first language in
their country.
The cinema is by far the most popular free-time activity listed in the chart for those
with English as their first language - 70 % of non - migrants and 65 % of English-
speaking migrants. Half the migrants from non-English- speaking countries also go to
see a film but interestingly, 5 % more of this group prefer the library to the cinema.
Roughly 40 % of the other two groups say they visit the library.
Zoos are visited most by half of the English-speaking migrants compared to just over
40 % of those born in Australia and approximately 35 % of the migrants born where
English is not widely spoken. The theatre is least popular for all concerned, with only
10 % of non - English- speaking migrants attending, while double the number of
native Australians go to see a play. A quarter of those born in English-speaking
countries are theatre-goers. Overall, it is perhaps unsurprising that Australians prefer
the cinema to the theatre, but the popularity of the library with new migrants may
reflect the financial circumstances of these new citizens. (212 words)

1. Task 2.3:
The map illustrates the proposed plan of a university art gallery. Overall, this art
gallery is likely to undergo some small changes of rearrangement with the set up of
functional areas.
At present, this art gallery has a big exhibition space in the middle with a seating
area behind it. To the left of the space, there is currently an office facing the lobby which is
located on the right of the map. The exhibition space can be accessed by a door from the
lobby.
In the future, the exhibition space will be enlarged and replace the existing office. On
the original site of the lobby, an education centre will be constructed and the position of
the entrance door will also be moved to other side. Meanwhile, the Mill Road and other
remaining features stay unchanged.
2. Exercise 2:
Apparently, with the rate of 50 percent, new migrants born in English - speaking
countries have visited the zoo 10 percent more than people born in Australia and 23
percent more than new migrants born in other countries.
Regarding to the library, the difference in proportion between groups of people who
visited it was quite significant. Noticeably, there was only 37 percent of people born in
Australia visited the library while the rate of new migrants born in other countries was
almost double.
The theatre was the most rarely visited place which has the total ratio was
approximately a half of that compared to the cinema. The range of people born in Australia
and new migrants born in other countries were 20 and 10 percent respectively.
Meanwhile, the graph indicates that cinema was the most popular location visited by
different individuals. The most visitors were people born in Australia which the percentage
was up to 70 percent. This was followed by new migrants born in English – speaking
countries with 65 percent and at the last place, there was 50 percent of new migrants
from other countries came to the cinema.

Exercise 1:
The maps illustrates what important changes that the proposed plan would be made to
the university art gallery. Generally speaking, these alteration will be done only to the
function of some areas within the building.
The most significant change is the expansion of exhibition space. For now, it is located in
the center of the block, between the lobby and the office; however, in the future, this space
has been expected to be enlarged to the left, which means the office will be converted into
exhibition area as well. Also, a through way will be opened to unite these two rooms.
Another substantial alteration worth mentioned would be made to the lobby in the right of
the building. According to the plan, in the future, an education center will replaced the
existing lobby and the doorway will be removed from the right to the front.
In summarise, the art gallery has been planned to undergo some remarkable adjustments
in the time to come.
Exercise 2:
The bar chart depicts the percentage of Australian citizens attracted to some specific sites.
According to it, the new migrants born in English-speaking territories have visited the zoo
15% higher than ones born in other countries and 10% more than people born in
Australia.
Similarly, the library has appealed roughly the same amount of people. Nevertheless, 55%
of folks who were given birth in non English speaking countries visit the library, which is
approximately 15% more than people born in the others, including Australia.
However, the indigenuos individuals are likely to visit the cinema. This is also the place, out
of three sites, that seems to be the most appealing to others people living in Australia with
the average percentage is up to 61%.
In contrast, theater rarely welcome guests as it only draws people eyes much less than the
cinema. In particular, just 10% of new migrants born in non English-speaking countries
come to theater whilst the percentage for similar range is 50%. Even in comparison with
the highest indicator of individuals coming to theater, which is migrant born in
English-speaking countries, 25% is still much smaller number than 65% of the same
subject visiting the cinema.
In conclusion, different people have distinguishing tastes for places to visit but it is
recognisable that cinema, in term of four location mentioned, has been the most attractive
site to all residents of Australia.

The maps illustrate the plan to innovate a university art gallery. Overall, the
composition of the building basically remains though there are many changes in the use of
space inside, especially exhibition ’s space.
The first significant change is that entrance will be remove to the Parkinson court
side of the building where people can walk straight ahead to the exhibition’s area instead
of going through lobby. Besides, the permanent exhibition space will expand nearly twice
as large as it is now because it will take the temporary exhibition ’s part.
Moreover, the space which is used for lobby and office at present will be replaced by
rooms for education and store comparatively. Especially, the place which isn’t part of
existing gallery will transform into special exhibition space. There will be a small exhibition
store in the left corner of the building. The space of Parkinson courts will still keep
unchanged as they are now.

Homework 1:
The diagram highlights expected changes to the art gallery of a university.
Overall, it is obvious to see that there are significant changes which will be made in
terms of the use of floor space in the gallery. In addition, there will be more space for
exhibition.
At present, visitors have to go through the doors that lead into the looby to access
the gallery. However, the lobby will be replaced by the education center. Moreover, the
proposed picture also shows that the current office area will be managed to close.
The exhibition space will be enlarged by closing office and using its space for art
gallery. Besides, it can be easily seen that the present exhibition is divided into three
rooms. But, the plan is to break down the walls and corporate it with managed office area
to get more space to exhibit.

Homework 1:
These pictures compare the layout of a university art gallery as it is at present with a
proposed design for the future. Overall, there will be some alterations to the left and right
areas, while the center area will almost remain unchanged.
Now, the center area is an exhibition space that is about half the size of this building. To
come in the exhibition space, there are two entrances – one at the front and one on the
right. There is a lobby linking the right door with the center area. The left of building is an
office area.
At the prospective design, the office will be made way for a new part of exhibition area.
This leads to the significant enlargement of exhibition space. Besides, the right way and
the lobby will be disappeared. The lobby will be replaced by a new education center with a
new door in front of it.

show how much satisfaction they have had from their visits there during the year before and after
the museum refurbished.
It is clear that renovation had done a positive influence in increasing level of attraction of the
site. Although number of visitors are slightly increased from 74000 to 92000, their degree of
pleasant have been substantial improved.
Before refurbishment, percentage of very satisfied and satisfied tourists are 15% and 30%
respectively, whilst 40% of investigated people feel their visits are unsatisfactory. Particularly, 7400
tourists obtained major dissatisfaction from doing Ashdown Museum.

The proportion of the disatisfacted also sharply decreases by 25% compared to the result of survey
year prior to reconstruction and people bear extremely disappointed with the expectation for the
updated museum fell down to 5%. Nevertheless, in both surveys, the percentage of no response
consistently accounts for 5%.
The table highlights the number of tourists to Ashdown Museum through the
year before (and after) it was refurbished and one after refurbishment, while the
charts illustrate the record of surveys that ask visitors how contented they were
with their visit respectively.
Overall, in the year after being refurbished, we can see that the numbers of
visitors (increased) considerably. Additionally, in that year, that satisfied visitors
dominated the field, explaining that refurbishment had done correctly.

In recent years, thanks to development in technology, some people prefer working at home,
instead of going to their companies. This brings both advantages and disadvantages for
people.
On the one hand, there are some merits of working from home. Firstly, it can save time and
cost of traveling. People do not have to spend time commuting to get their office, especially
if the company is far from home. Beside, distance working allow people to connect quickly
to their office without face to face meeting, which means that they do not pay for public
transport or private vehicle gas. Another benefit of distance working is that people have
stress less. It can be seen that struggling with traffic jam at rush hour daily may make worker
more stressed than working.
On the other hand, working on the internet can be negative in several ways. The first
drawback is that people often have fewer chances of interacting with others. As a result, they
can feel isolated, even they may not have any a bond of friend. Furthermore, working at
home is not able to provide opportunities to gain experiences from co-workers or bosses.
This means that it is difficult to improve skills and responsibility for work.
In conclusion, although online working has both merits and downsides, it can be an excellent
method if people want to have a flexible part time job.
Nowadays, people are able to work from home because of the development of
technologies instead of going to the work place. Some people believe this trend has many
advantages. However, there are still many problems existed .
To begin with, the economical is what I put my priority in. It save much money from
paying for the travel expenses. For example, in Vietnam almost Vietnamese use bike to go to
work and this vehicle consume approximately 2 litres of petrol to travel 100 kilometers. It
costs 40 thousands Vietnam dong and this can be used for 3 or 4 days. So the traveling
expenses for 1 week is approximately 80 thousands Vietnam dong. So people can save 3
millions and 840 thousands Vietnam dong annually . Morever , if workers could work from
home , they can avoid traffic jam . It wastes a lot of time that you can spend for others things.
Despite the advantages of working from home it also has some drawbacks. One of the
most serious problem is the motivation. Working from home can make workers fell
loneliness and isolation , they have no colleague to promote, support or compete directly.
People can have a tendency to spend assigned tasks to the last day of the deadline. The work
can be delayed because of that. In addition , all the tasks depend on the internet connection
and technology devices . If it has any problem , the work can be interrupted and affect badly
to the company.
In conclusion , as discussed in the essay , there are many advantages of working from
home thanks to the development of technologies but it stll has some problems . teleworking
is a good choice for people who want flexible time of working .

Today, children are care deeply about their study and life, however, this leads them to be
under pressures. This essay will mention about some causes for these pressures and propose
several solutions to overcome them.
It cannot be denied that education, society and commercial are three main reasons which
cause pressure for children. Firstly, children is the over requirements. Children have to spend
much time in schools and doing further study to get the highest result, which means the study
is becoming more competitive. The second reason is parental pressure. Some parents have
unrealistic expectations of their children, so children have to exert themselves to better than
their peers in order to please their parents. The last reason is commercial. There are more
companies target at the young for their marketing campaigns.
Regarding to the matter, some measures could be proposed to tackle this problem. Firstly,
schools transform the testing system, so that children have an open and creative environment
study without worry about score. Secondly, parents should take care about children’s feeling,
thus they have reasonable expectation on their children. Finally, governments must restrict
the advertisements which influence negatively children.
In conclusion, there are many pressures which children are forced. These pressures affect the
mental and physical development of children, so it is important to shield them from
unnecessary burden.
In this modern day and age, children are facing tremendous stresses from academic,
social and commercial perspectives. There are some significant reasons why this
phenomenon takes place as well as how to solve it. In the following essay, I will discuss
about them.
The causes of this problem are coming from many sides, but some of them are
considerably concerned. Firstly, the pressure comes from education system, teachers set up
their ranking charts, publish children’s score to compare themselves. As the result, students
could be ashamed about their abilities. However, this doesn’t stop at there, even student with
flying colours might feel disappointed because their mark is less higher than the peers.
Secondly, parents form more expectations about the young, it leads to that children have to
make any effort to meet the parent’s demand. Finally, a huge range of uncontrolled
advertisements and programs are published on the multi media, and their target is to the
young to make them get some difficult standards. Therefore, children may attempt to become
who are not their manner.
However, I contend that we should consider carefully these actions. About education,
we should make it more easier for the young. For instance, teachers is not allowed to create
any ranking charts for student as well as make homework for them. Moreover, parents should
not put pressure on the young about the future or band scores. Another measure would be for
the governors to introduce laws about advertising and publishing programs that are aimed to
children.
To summarise, pressures from academic, social, commercial perspectives are caused
by many sides. However, these measures should be taken to face up with them effectively.
