PREFACE

As BBA students our aim should not be only to learn theoretical

concepts in the classroom, but it becomes more important as
how we apply those concepts in practices. In present scenario
the world is developing so fast, and thus the technological and
application theory is changing at a greater phase. The study
inculcates students to think out of the box, rather than
emphasizing within the box. We are coming across many
modern theories and implementation of machineries, to start
new business. We must have the knowledge of theories and
practical through it the student can able to know about how to
apply their mind in real business world. This program of
industrial visit is to create awareness about industrial
environment amongst the students. Such industrial visit also
play vital role in BBA programmed.

The knowing the importance of such practical visit our college is

providing with such a program to enhance the overall
department of students. “Asian Filtration Technology” gave us
the golden opportunity to carry out our visit in such a great
organization. We have prepared the detail report regarding all
management fields. We have tried our best to collect all
necessary information relating to project work.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Industrial filtration involves the removal of contaminating

particles from air and other gases. Many industrial processes
require air filtration and separation systems not only to protect
equipment, but to also protect the work environment. Industrial
filters are a significant part of the industrial process as they are
used for many types of applications in the industry.

These filters help in increasing the efficacy of the Industrial

operations. Industries employ filters for a variety of applications
including institutional, municipal and industrial. Industrial filters
can sustain any weather or climate condition but it is vital to
utilize of right kind of water tanks, filters or valves. The
equipment used in water filters is highly prominent in the
industrial scenario and useful too as they can be used in many
filtration requirements.

Filtration is the process in which solid particles in a liquid or

gaseous fluid are removed by the use of a filter medium that
permits the fluid to pass through but retains the solid particles.
Either the clarified fluid or the solid particles removed from the
fluid may be the desired product. Purification.

Filtration is extremely important to keep things like water,

chemicals, and pharmaceuticals clean, pure and free of
contaminants. If it wasn’t for filtration, we might not have safe
drinking water.

PRODUCTION
DEPARTMENT

Manufacturing is the production of merchandise for use or sale

using labour and machines, tools, chemical, and biological
processing or formulation. The term may refer to a range of
human activity from handicraft to high tech but is most
commonly applied to industrial production in which raw
materials are transformed into finished goods on a large scale.
Such finished goods may be used for manufacturing other more
complex products such as aircraft, household appliances or
automobiles, or sold to wholesaler who in turn sell them to end
users and consumers.

Manufacturing takes turn under all types of economic systems.

In a free market economy, manufacturing is usually directed
towards the mass production of product for sale to consumers at
a profit. In a collectivist economy, manufacturing is more
frequent directed by the state to supply a centrally planned
economy. In mixed market economics manufacturing occurs
under some degree of government regulations.

In short production means the process and methods used to

transform tangible inputs ( raw materials, semi-furnished,
subassemblies) and intangible inputs ( ideas, information,
knowledge) into goods or services. Resource are used in the
process to create an output that is suitable for use or has
exchange value.

The production of industrial filters involve certain stages before

it is being delivered to customer. The company does major work
on product in-house and at some stage company involve third
party for finishing the product. The company has fully equipped
workshop with quality control equipments and quality control
systems. Technical team makes an effort to satisfy the need of
customer and to ensure best quality control system. The
company has good experience in manufacturing the filters this
leads to better production. Company aims to deliver the product
on time.

RAW MATERIALS

The company has various suppliers across the globe. Company

needs more than 20 different material to manufacture a filters so
company needs to maintain accurate stock of materials to avoid
delays and problems in production.

The company saves a lot of cost by importing the materials from

different country and state rather than purchasing from nearby
vendors. The company also gets good quality of materials which
will lead to quality production.
The production director personally inspect the material when the
material arrives at plant. And reject the material if it is not being
in appropriate criteria. The company has genuine and reputed
suppliers across the globe.

SOURCES OF RAW MATERIALS

The source of raw materials are divided into three categories

Around 40-50% of materials are imported from china and

Germany annually
Around 30-40% of materials are sourced from different state like
Delhi and Mumbai
And rest 10-20% are being purchased from local vendors within
the city.

Company maintains minimum 12-13 month inventory for

production if due to any reason supply stops of raw materials
that will not affects the production of company for next 1 year as
it has already stored material for 1 year. In the storage area
within the company.

PRODUCTION PLANNING:

It is the planning of production and manufacturing modules in a

company or industry. It utilizes the resource allocation of
activities of employees, materials and production capacity in
order to serve different customers.

Different types of production methods such as single item

manufacturing, batch production, mass production, continuous
production etc. have their own type of production planning.
Production planning can be combined with production control
into production planning or it can be combined and or integrated
into enterprise resource planning. Production planning is a plan
for future production. In which the facilities needed are
determined and arranged.

PROCESS DESCRIPTION:

The product varies from customer to customer so they uses

batch production method. As they customized the product
according to the need of customer so mass production is not
possible. So involvement of customer is also high and the
product varies from each products. There are around 3000+
different types, size, specification filters are there so it is
difficult to produce in mass therefore the company uses semi
automatic process of manufacturing. Here is the list of some
machine that company uses

MACHINERY
PLEATING MACHINE
SPOT WELDING MACHINE
GLUING MACHINE
KNIFE PLEATING MACHINE

MESH MAKING MACHINE

SEALING MACHINE
WELDING MACHINE
BUFFING MACHINE
MANUFACTURING PROCESS AND POLICY:

The manufacturing process starts as soon as the purchase order

of client is received. As the purchase order is received it is being
verified and passed to the production director.

The production director note it down and divide the work among
different employee and fix the time period and inform the
concerned department.

In between the manufacturing process the director supervises the

process and in some case the client also arrange a supervisory
visit to the company and checks different parameters.

As the product gets ready the director checks and verify it with
purchase order and then the labels and stickers are being sticked
and it is being packed with safety measures to avoid damage in
transport.

The workforce of company is also being divided into different

groups according to the personnel skills and different stages. For
example the fabricator and welding expert only focus on
welding and fabrication job. The work is divided by supervisor
from different person to different stages.

Companies establish good manufacturing policies to meet

quality standards and ensure they handle and manufacture
products safely and consistently. These policies set the minimum
requirement for control, facilities, equipment, packaging,
product testing and processes.

PLANT LOCATION:

The selection of location is key decision as large investment is

made in building plants and machinery. It is not advisable or not
possible to change the location very often so an improper
location of plant may lead to waste of all the investments made
in building and machinery and equipment.

As discussed with the directors of company they selected

Ankleshwar because of various reasons :-

1:- Ankleshwar is hub of chemical and pharma industry

2:- less competitors in Ankleshwar
3:- many other GIDC is nearby from Ankleshwar i.e. panoli,
dahej, jhagadia, kosamba
4:- easy to get manpower and resources

PLANT LAYOUT:

Plant layout is the arrangement of machinery, equipments, and

facilities such as finished goods store, raw material store, tool
room, maintenance store, heating room, curing room, and other
handling equipment, employees amenities like toilet, rest room,
drinking water, etc. to ensure smooth and quick movement of
materials from wet material stage to finished good stage with
minimum material handling quality of operation good
communication etc at the lowest possible handling cost.

Here at Asian filtration technology the departments are divided

as per work like firstly there is admin office which include
accountant office and directors office and fellow employee
desks after the office there is store room in which all finished
goods and semi finished goods are being placed and after store
room there is open place for work where all machinery are
placed and all men and material work there. Along with this
there are 4 quarters for living for workers.

HR PLANNING AND ACTIVITIES

Strategic HR planning is an important component of strategic

HR management. It links HR management directly to strategic
plan of your organization. Most mid to large sized organization
have a strategic plan that guides them in successful meeting their
missions. Organization routinely complete financial plans to
ensure they achieve organizational goals and while workforce
plans are not as common they are just as important.

Even a small organization with a few as 10 staff can develop

strategic plan to guide decisions about future based on strategic
plan your organization can develop strategic HR plan that will
allow you to make HR management decisions now to support
future direction of the organization.

Recruitment and selection

Recruitment is a key responsibility of the HR department. While

HR works in many areas including employee engagement,
employee development, statutory compliance, data management
and many others, one of the key areas of focus for HR is to
attract, select and onboard suitable candidates for the
organization.

Why do we need an appropriate Recruitment and Selection

process?

Recruitment is the process of attracting qualified candidates for

a job role and Selection is the process of identifying and
selecting the right candidate for that job.
The contributions of each employee play a pivotal role in the
sustenance and growth of a business. Hence it is extremely
important to select the right person for the job. The same way as
a square peg does not fit in a round hole, a bad hire can affect
the overall business outcomes.

The impact to your business when you hire the wrong candidate
is often much more than not hiring a person at all! Recruitment
is not only an operational activity but a key strategic activity for
the business.

Hence there is a need for developing a strong recruitment and

selection process.
The right process reflects on your company’s professionalism
and portrays your organization’s maturity in attracting and
hiring the right talent. An effective process helps in creation of a
talent pool in a proactive manner, thus assisting in meeting the
medium-term and long-term business objectives.
Recruiting involves multiple stakeholders including senior level
employees in your company and can cost a lot in terms of time
and money. Hence one needs to ensure that the process is well
defined and optimized to meet the needs of all stakeholders.
Selecting the right employee is an important goal for the
recruitment team and establishing the correct process
can enhance the experience of the Candidate, Interviewer,
Hiring Manager and the HR Department. It can also help
increase the effectiveness of your business.
HR professionals should ensure that they follow the correct
Recruitment and Selection processes and attract the best
workforce for their organization.

There are two types of Recruitment sources followed by

company
• EXTERNAL SOURCE
• INTERNAL SOURCES
INTERNAL SOURCE

Internal sources include personnel already on the payroll of the

organization
• Present Permanent Employees
• Employee Referrals
• Former Employee

EXTERNAL SOURCES
These sources lie outside the organization
In Asian filtration technology they consider following sources
for recruitment
• Newspaper advertising
• Through references in local association
• Placement Agencies

Selection procedure:

A scientific and logical selection procedure leads to scientific

selection of candidates. The criterion finalized for selecting a
candidate for a particular job varies from company to company

Therefore the selection procedure followed by different

organization many times becomes lengthy as it is a question of
getting the most suitable candidates for which various test are
done and interviews to be taken. The procedure for selection
should be systematic so that it does not leave any scope for
confusion and doubts about choice of selected candidate.

1: preliminary interview
2: selection test
3: employment interview
4: reference and background check
5: selection decision
6: job offer
7: contract of employment

Recruitment and Selection at Asian filtration

technology:

Company is having 70% female employee and 30% male

employee. In some critical work company requires more females
than male.
For entry level employees, company follows following
recruitment and selection process:

1. Preliminary and comprehensive Interviews: As the

employees are being invited for interview the manager
personally examine each employee by interacting them and
measures the skills knowledge employee is having. As company
needs skilled as well as unskilled employees so it is not same for
each employee. In this stage manager also tells the code of
conduct of company which helps the employee in decision
making

2. Completion of Application Form: after interview round

employees have to fill up an application form which contains all
the personal details of employees for safety concerns and
company takes Xerox of identity document of employee and
starts filing PF of each one

5. Background Investigation: After clearing the interview phase

background investigation is verified. Information is verified
from the application form. Typical information verified includes:
Previous Job Performance
Education
Legal Status to Work
Credit References
Criminal Records

So according to my observations the company did not follow the

proper selection process they just attempt basic and necessary
steps.
And company has almost 60% of employee are from same
family.
Company also give priority to couples for working together

Employee Services & Benefits

Health Insurance
Living quarters
Overtime allowance
Free school education to children of employees
Team Outings

their experience, work performance, skills and qualification.
FINANCE
DEPARTMENT

Introduction

Finance Department is the part of an organization that is

responsible for acquiring funds for the firm, managing funds
within the organization and planning for the expenditure of
funds on various assets. It is the part of an organization that
ensures efficient financial management and financial control
necessary to support all business activities.
The contributions of finance department to any company and
how these contributions positively affect organizational
performance will greatly depend on factors such as the extent to
which the owner/ manager is involved in his company.

At Asian as we talk about financial reporting and analysis it says

that it is the function that takes raw accounting entries and
transforms them into meaningful, usable and comparable
financial statements. The finance department contributes to
organizational growth by measuring and reporting on regular
bases, key numbers that are vital to success of the company.

Financial Objective of the Company

Increasing Revenue: This is the most basic financial objective

for any business because the main goal of most businesses is to
increase sales to bring in more revenue. This is what makes
businesses successful and allows them to continue growing.

Increasing Profit Margin: Another common objective of finance

is to increase profit margins from sales. Profit margins relate to
how much is made on each sale after considering the expenses,
while revenue is the general amount of profit that a company
makes.

Earning ROI: This objective is typically the most long term out
of any financial objective. Investments can take time to see a
return, sometimes several years, so this can be a good objective
to set in addition to short-term goals.

Financial Stability: This financial objective is not as common

and is only used when necessary for the business to survive but
Apex tends to keep this objective in mind all the time. Rather
than increasing revenue or making a business more successful,
this objective helps preserve a business throughout a challenging
time

managing their working capital

1. Cash management

Accounts payable management is critical in managing a

business's cash flow. When using the indirect method to prepare
the cash flow statement, the net increase or decrease in AP from
the prior period appears in the top section, the cash flow from
operating activities. Asian filtration uses AP to manipulate the
company's cash flow to a certain extent.
Risk and Credit Management
