I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to;
Topic: Solutions
III. Procedure
A. Daily Routine
Teacher’s Activty Student’s Activity
a) Greeting
“Good Afternoon class” “Good Afternoon ma’am”
b) Prayers
“Let us all stand for a prayer” (Students will stand)
c) Classroom Management
(Students picking up the trash)
“Before you take your seats, kindly pick up the
pieces of paper under your chair
Materials:
2 Cups, Water, salt and sugar
Instructions:
1. Add the salt in a cup of water and stir until it
dissolves
2. Do the same procedures to sugar
“Very Good”
“How about sugar, what did you observe? “it dissolved also ma’am”
“That’s right”
Kinds of Solution
Kinds Solute Solvent Example
Gas Gas Gas Air
liquid Gas Liquid Soda
liquid Liquid Liquid Rubbing
alcohol
Solid Liquid Salt solution.
Sugar solution
Solid Solid Solid Silver in gold
Gas Solid marshmallows
Types of Solution
1. Unsaturated Solution – a solution that contains
less solute than the maximum amount the solvent
can dissolve at a given temperature
2. Saturated Solution – a solution that contains
maximum amount of solute dissolved by a given
amount of solvent
Percentage Composition
Another way to express the concentration of a
solution is to report its percent by mass, percent
by volume, or percent by mass/volume
Solving for X,
X = (2% by mass)(100 g of solution)/100
X = 2.0 g
“So solution is classified into 3 and what are “unsaturated, saturated and
IV. Evaluation
Direction: Prepare 1 whole sheet of paper and solve the following problems
1. What is the percent by mass of a solution that is composed of 5 g of salt for every 95 g of
water?
2. A solution made from 35 ml of ethanol and 65ml of water. What is the percent by volume
of ethanol?
3. If 250 g of sodium chloride is present in 3000 ml of solution, what is the percent mass by
volume of sodium chloride?
4. How would you make a 15% by mass of salt solution? Assume that you will prepare a 200g
of the solution?
