BACKGROUND
For years the school authorities, learners, teachers, visitors have been facing
challenges with pathways at the school. The pathways are slippery during
the rainy season and too dusty during the dry seasons. The school now wish
to pave the pathways with concrete tiles which are being produced by the
school building department.

You are therefore required to determine the number of tiles required to


pave a path section of your choice.
THE CALA
You are to carry out the activities in two parts. i.e Part A and Part B.

PART A

 From the pathways at the school, select a pathway of your choice.


 List the tools you would require to take measurements on the chosen
section
 Take measurements of the dimensions of the path section you have
chosen
 Write down the results you obtained.

PART B

 Draw the section of the pathway you have chosen; (a) not to scale, (b)
to scale of your choice.
 Take measurements of the tiles to be used and write them down
 Calculate the number of paving tiles required to cover the pathway
section you chose.

You are to be assessed based on your ability to perform the following
