Unicorn Security Blanket (free pattern)

March 3, 2018August 25, 2018

This was my first commissioned work, and I just went for it, no pa ern just a crochet hook and an idea.
Luckily, it turned out great. Unfortunately, I didn’t expect it to go so well in the first go, that I didn’t
write down the pa ern! I have tried to remember what I did below, so I apologise if it isn’t perfect.

Contact me (h ps://handmadebynimy.wordpress.com/contact/) if you would like me to make one for

you.

I have a larger rainbow unicorn pa ern available here

14. Weave in ends

To assemble, refer to the picture, I recommend the following order

Sew the head to the centre of the blanket.

Sew the ears and horns on the head. I recommend pinning them to stop them moving around as you
sew them on.
Sew the legs to the bo om of the head and the blanket.
Sew the strands of hair onto the top of the head.
Using yellow yarn, sew on nostrils.

You are finished!

When I delivered this, I displayed it like a flower with the unicorn hidden away.

Approximately how many stitches are between the eyes? I was feeling ambitious so I’m working it in
Bernat Pipsqueak and basically crocheting by feel

Hi Teresa, I think there are approximately 8 stitches between the eyes and I think they are placed
on row 8. But I usually do a place them and see what it looks like and adjust depending on how I
feel it’s looking. Good luck with the Pipsqueak!

Hi Savannah,
Try adding 2 more “SC all around” rows before you do the decrease on row 11. I hope that helps.

Do you not join at the end of each round?

Hi Juanita, There is no join at the end of the round, you just start the next SC in the first stitch of
the previous round. You are making a spiral rather than circles.

Sorry, I was referring to the unicorn. You do need to slip stitch on the blanket to the top of ch 3
at the start of the round when you start the rows with the DC. Before that you don’t need to
join.

So, your comment is correct. There are no joins on rows 1-3 of the blanket.

Best regards,
Nimisha

Hi, sorry for the delay, I just saw this. No I just carry on to the next round. I prefer this, as then
there isn’t a seam

I have a question about the yarn. I love the way yours looks and was wondering what type /weight
yarn you used for this unicorn lovey.

Hi Paula, I mainly used DK, acrylic yarn for this. The light pink was DK, co on. The brand is
cygnet yarn.

Hi Kayla, when you do the DC you do it in the stitch from the row below. From row 7 onwards,
in the 3 ch gap there 3DC, 3 ch, 3DC. Does this diagram help:
