Part B: Diodes, Op-amps and Transformers

1. Assuming ideal diodes (first approximation), find I. (5)

2. Find Vo . (5)

3. A precision rectifier is shown in the figure. Assuming the diode to have a fixed voltage (5)
drop of 0.7 V (second approximation), sketch the waveforms vm (t), vo (t) and vo0 (t) for
two cycles of input voltage vin (t) = Vm sin(ωt) under steady state.

4. The figure shows the equivalent circuit of a transformer under no load. Taking the flux (5)
φ̄ linking the primary and secondary windings as the reference phasor (angle = zero),
sketch the phasor diagram under no load, indicating: φ̄, I¯e , I¯m , I¯c , φ¯l1 , I¯e r1 , jxl1 I¯e , E1
and V1 . φ¯l1 represents the leakage flux in the primary winding.

5. A 10 kVA, 2500/250 V single phase transformer gave the following test results: (5)

Open Circuit Test: 250 V, 0.8 A, 50 W

Short Circuit Test: 60 V, 3 A, 45 W

Draw the equivalent circuit of the transformer referred to the low voltage side.
