B: That’s a tricky question because there are so many different ways these days and I like to
use all of them. Facebook is good for all sorts of things but you can’t beat an internet
telephone call where you can see the face of the other person talking.
4) What did you like most about the area where you grew up? _____
A: Well, I suppose the thing that most people liked about it is that everyone was very friendly
and there was a great community spirit, but I myself really enjoyed the beautiful countryside.
We were surrounded by hill and I loved to go for early morning walks.
B: Everyone said it was a great village. We all knew each other, but there weren’t many shops
and there wasn’t much to do in the evenings.
A: Everyone wants to be famous these days. All the TV programmers are about fame. We live
in a celebrity culture.
B: Actually, I’ve never really wanted to be famous because I value my privacy too much and I
don’t think I could cope with all the media attention I would get. However, a little more money
would be helpful!
B – Read the strategy, then take turns at asking and answering the question yourselves, using

B – Listen to the final part, in which the interlocutor asks some more questions.
1) What expressions does Paola use to give herself thinking time? Can you think of
others?
2) What should Frédéric have done when he was unable to think of an answer?
