Religion- is a set of belief systems,ceremonies,and rituals
to
worship God
-comes from the Latin word “religare” that
means “to tie, to bind”.
-in Filipino,it is called as “relihiyon”.

Islam-is one of the youngest and the most fastest


growing religion around the world.
-it is considered as a monotheistic faith.
-comes from an Arabic word that means
“peace and submission”.

Islam teaches us that we can find peace in our life by


submitting to God and the person who submits to God is
called a Muslim.

Muslim- is what we call to the adherent of Islam


religion.

Islam religion began in Arabia.

Pre- Islamic people worshipped variety of Gods that’s


why when the Arab introduces the new Arab religion that
started with the establishment of Islam,Byzantine rulers
opposing and antagonizing on it.

Allah- comes from an Arabic compound words which are


“al means the” and “ilah means God”.

Muhammad- is the founder of Islam religion in 7th century.

LIFE OF MUHAMMAD

Around the year 570 C.E, Muhammad ibn Abdullah was


born in the oasis town of Mecca.Muhammad’s father died
before he was born while his mother died before he was
six years old so he was raised by his grandfather Abd al-
Muttalib and later on, was taken custody by his paternal
uncle, Abu Talib.

With no formal schooling, he worked as a caravan worker


travelling across the Arabian Peninsula as a camel
driver.Muhammad at twenty-five years old, married
Khadija, a forty-five year old wealthy widow.

Around the year 610 B.C.E, Muhammad began hearing


the voice of God in the Summit of Mount Hira where he
used to retreat and he was preaching a new order built
upon God’s will and human submission to this belief.

Qur’an- the sacred writing of Islam religion


-this means “recitation or reading”

Imam - congregates the Muslims in prayer

Friday- worship day of Muslim

Mosque- worship place of Muslim

Star and Crescent Moon- acknowledged


representations of Islamic faith.

Eid al- Fitr- means “Festival of Breaking Fast”


-signals the end of Ramadan

Eid al-Adha-means “Feast of Sacrifice”


-signals the end of pilgrimage season.

During these holidays,Muslims used to greet each other as


Eid Mubarak.

Eid- celebration
Mubarak-means “blessed”

Ruku- is the forward bending position of Muslims during


prayer.
