The writer wants to express thanks to Allah SWT. Because of the bless and grace, the
entitled “Introduction to translation; literal and dynamic translation method” can be finished on
time.

In completing this paper, the write faced many problems, but with the help of many
people, all the problems could be passed. May allah. swt give the blessing for them. Although
this paper has many deficiencies in the arrangement and explanation, the writer hope that it can
be used as a reference for the reader to understand the intrinsic elements of a short story.

 CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION

A. Background
Translation is an attempt to change the source language text to in the appropriate text
with the target language. In other words, translation is an activity that involves the
relationship between two or more languages which then transfers meaning source
language to target language with message accuracy, readability, and acceptability so as to
produce a good translation product. Translations are currently in high demand or very
popular. This may be related to public awareness that English as an international
language is indispensable in this era of globalization. Due to the popularity of translation
today, a translator should be able to analyze the source well because this is the most
important thing for the correct translation to be delivered (Nababan, 2008: 3). To do the
translation, there are two methods used. The first is the dynamic method, and the second
is the literal method.

DISCUSSION

A. Definition of translation

Munday (2008:5) states that “translation has several meanings: it can refer to the
general subject field, the product (the text that has been translated) or the process (the
act of producing the translation, otherwise known as translating). The process of
translation between source text (or ST) in the original verbal language (the source
language or SL) into a written text (text target text or TT) in a different verbal
language (the target language or TL). for a brief meaning, interpreted as copy or move
a language to another.

B. Methods of translation

1. Literal method
Literal translation can be said to lie between word-of-word translation and free
translation. At first, this translation was like a word-for word translation, but then
necessary changes were made regarding the grammar in accordance with the
applicable grammar in the TL. The word order in literal translation is no longer
exactly the same as in SL, but the word order has been adjusted to the TL
structure.

Example :

SL : My house in the right side

TL : Rumahku berada disisi kanan

2. Dynamic method
Dynamic translation is a translation that tries to look for the equivalent
meaning by using the expressions reasonable in TL, therefore this method is often
also call a fair translation.

Example :

SL : The author has organized this book since 1995

TL : Penulis telah menyusun buku ini sejak tahun 1995

A. Conclusion
Translation meaning is the process of translating words or text from one language
into another. There are two methods of translation that is literal and dynamic method.

B. Suggestion
That’s it we have compiled this paper, hopefuly this paper will be useful for the
readers. In writing this we realize that there are still many shortcomings, suggestions
and constructive critism are highly expected to improve our paper.
