Health Teaching
Diet/Nutrition 1. Implement a dietary program to ensure proper
nutritional intake within the limits of the
treatment regimen
2. Eat small meals often that are high in fiber
and calories.
3. You may be told to limit how much fluid you
drink. Season foods with fresh herbs, garlic,
onions, citrus, flavored vinegar, and sodium-
free spice blends instead of salt when
cooking.
4. Weigh yourself every day. Do this at the
same time of day and in the same kind of
clothes. Keep a record of your daily
weights.
5. Monitor your I and O. Measure the amount of
urine and stool you have each day.
Activity 1. Try not to wear yourself out or get
overly fatigued.
2. Get plenty of rest and get more sleep at night.
3. Move around, walk as you can, and bend your
legs to prevent getting blood clots when you
rest for a long period of time.
4. Encourage the patient to maintain good
hygiene to increase comfort, promote
blood circulation and build self esteem

Medication 1. Take your medicines exactly as directed.


2. Instruct patient`s mother of the
significance of following; the right time,
dosage given by his doctor.
3. Keep all medical appointments.
4. Educate the significant other on what purpose,
side effects and usage of each medication.
5. Re instruct the guardian about the medication
and identify what medication are to give
before and after meals.
6. Advised significant others to immediately call
your physician if abnormalities seen.
Significant other

Other 1. Instruct significant other to follow the


check-up schedule provided by his
doctor.
2. Educate the mother to immediately go to the
hospital if the condition of the patient worsens
or shows abnormal symptoms.
3. Take steps to control high blood pressure or
diabetes. Talk with your healthcare provider
for advice.
