WRITTEN REPORT
Topic: Creating Digital Stories
Finding the right stories to tell in today’s day and age is challenging. Gone are the days of
sitting around campfires or in living rooms lounging on lazy afternoons. Gone are the nights when
parents would sit back with their children to read bedtime stories and share tales of old. With new
media, modes of storytelling have evolved to a point in which not only is it digital but mobile as
well. The manner in which stories are told are no longer limited to that of oral traditions but to a
tradition that is independent, visually oriented and on-the-go.
Stories have been adapted in order to accommodate changing times as well as changing attitudes.
Nevertheless, it is believed that no matter how much stories conform to change, they remain a
reflection of a given social cultural tradition.

What is Digital Story all about? Digital Storytelling uses multimedia tools to bring narratives
to life. Digital Stories are versatile and can cover a wide variety of topics. Such as explaining a
concept, reflecting on a personal experience, retelling an historical event, or making an
argument. Digital stories are typically videos that combine audio, images, and video clips to tell
a story. Though digital stories be consists two to three minutes long, yet a lot of work or process
goes into making one.
Creating Digital Stories has a following steps that allow the students to deepen their
understanding when creating digital stories in the future:
Step 1: Think of any story that you can use as a springboard to allow the students to
understand the content of your learning plan.
Step 2: Search for some important rubrics about digital stories from the World Wide
Web. If there is a need to modify your adapted rubrics, modify it.
Step 3: Develop story board
Step 4: Develop the Digital Story guided by your rubrics and story board.
First, start with an idea you will need to brainstorm what you want your digital story to be
about. Once you’ve determined the purpose of your digital story, the next step is to create a
script and a storyboard. When writing a script, you will need to decide what you want your
digital story to accomplish. The script and storyboard will lay out exactly how the digital story
will unfold. The next step is to create your video. Depending on your script and storyboard, you
may need to record your voiceover, gather or create images or video clips, and choose music and
sound effects. Finally, put all the elements together and enjoy the final product.
So, why create a digital story? Creating a digital story is an engaging way to share
information that requires creativity, self-direction, and experimentation with new technologies.
