One school, two campuses, one mission
Dear Parents and Carers,
Notices and
Wow, what a busy end of year it has been. We have had a Swimming
reminders Carnival, Grade 10 Work Experience, P&F Christmas Market, Secondary
Campus Prize Giving, Moving Up celebration for Pre School and last night
our Christmas Concert. All these events show that we are back to full
Friday 9th pace after COVID and working really hard to bring a wide variety of
learning experiences for your children. We celebrate all talents at LIS and
December many were on display last night at our Christmas Concert.

As we move towards the end of the year it is worth reflecting on the achievements the school has
school made this year. We have developed the Primary Reports to bring in more specific levels of
achievement. Relaunched Parent, Teacher, Student conferences with a focus on student ownership
of targets, developed a rich and varied club program for our Boarding Students, developed our
Friday 16th multi-age approach to planning in Primary, launched our middle leader positions to develop more
accountability and leadership with our teams and developed layers of contingency with our
December internet access aimed at covering all eventualities, including earthquakes!

On a sporting front we have developed a very strong link with SCRUM, led by Robin Tarere. His
closes at team are superbly organised and provide safe training and competition experiences for our
3pm students, both boys and girls. In our recent tournament against other schools we got 1 st place in 5
different categories. Well done all.
Our P&F have been extremely busy this year. They have organised 2 markets and 2 discos. There
Monday 9th has also been fundraising through selling T-Shirts meaning that our total is now enough to start
January work on our nominated project for the P&F which is an IT suite in the breakout room at Primary.
The contractors will be starting the work on this over the school holidays and we hopefully will

Wednesday Today we say goodbye to Mrs Joycelyn Tioti, who has loyally served LIS for 19 years. All these years
have been in our Early Years department and throughout this time she has become the dependable
25th January professional that parents first entrust their very young children to. I am sure that you will all join
First day of me in thanking Mrs Tioti for her years of dedicated service. We also say farewell to Ms Leonie Valu
who will be transferring from LIS to our IEA school in Kimbe to be closer to her family. Leonie is a
school fantastic teacher and mentor to many aspiring professionals and will be missed by many at LIS. Mr
Ham Dowa is leaving our Secondary Campus to pursue his love of electrical engineering at Unitech
and Ms Jacinta Neiman will return to being our cover teacher after supporting in Grade 7/8 for the
past 6 months. We wish them all well in their new endeavours.
