Watch the video and answer the following questions (circle one answer):
Extreme Ironing is an extreme sport and a performance art. People who play this unusual sport
go to a remote location and iron clothes! They call themselves ‘ironists’ and get a thrill from
taking their ironing board, iron and some of their wrinkly clothes to extreme places and
photograph themselves while ironing. Some of the places they have gone to include extreme
altitudes, underwater, off the edge of cliffs, and on top of vehicles. According to the official
website, extreme ironing is “the latest danger sport that combines the thrill of doing an extreme
outdoor activity with the satisfaction of a well-pressed shirt.”

When J.K Rowling invented the sport of Quiddich for her Harry Potter books, she would not
have imagined that a few years later it would be played in leagues all around the world. In our
world, muggles (normal people) can join in this game involving a quaffle, broomsticks, hoops,
bludgers and the coveted golden snitch.
Without the help of magic, there were a few modifications required to the rules, but fans of Harry
Potter would be happy with the adaptation. There's no actual flying involved – but players do
hold brooms between their legs and run around the field in an attempt to throw balls through
round hoops.
Rules
In the real world, Quidditch is played by both males and females and seven people are on each
team. There are three circular goals (often circular tubes on top of PVC pipes) placed at each end
of the pitch. All players are required to carry a broom between their legs at all times. Volleyballs
are used as the quaffle and dodgeballs are used as the bludgers. The Snitch is simply a tennis ball
contained in a sock tucked in the waistband of the snitch runner. The team with the most points
after the “snitch” is captured wins the match.
As an indication of how much the sport has grown, there is an International Quidditch
Association, and a Quidditch World Cup. This is a popular game on college campuses in
England.

HOT YOGA

Now read the following text about HOT YOGA and complete the chart with the correct
information on the next page.
Make no mistake: Bikram yoga is toasty! This style of yoga is practiced in a room with the
temperature well above body temperature (approx. 40.6 degrees Celsius or 105 degrees
Fahrenheit). Bikram consists of a set of 26 poses and two breathing exercises.
Origins
Bikram yoga was founded by Bikram Choudhury, who was born in Calcutta, India in 1946. He
started practicing yoga at the age of four under the guidance of Bishnu Ghosh. At 17, Choudhury
suffered a knee injury that led European doctors to believe that he would never walk again. Then,
yoga healed his knee and inspired him to found Bikram Yoga and take it to communities around
the world.
Benefits
Some of the benefits students of Bikram yoga enjoy include enhanced flexibility, successful
recovery from injury (due to deep stretching), and the endless flushing of toxins due to increased
perspiration.
What to bring
Water! Drink plenty of water before practice, during practice, and yup, you guessed it: tons of
water after practice. Hydration is very important in Bikram yoga to avoid dizziness and to give
you a break from the heat. Remember to take a floor mat and a towel.
