Case Study #2 – Group Work
Objectives:
ü Deepen your understanding of the foundation of Enterprise Resource Planning.
ü Develop skills in teamwork and collaboration.
ü Sharpen their written and oral communication skills.

Case Background:
Management of ERPPLAN Industries, a Laguna-based manufacturer of personal protective equipment (PPEs), has agreed to
proceed with acquiring an ERP system. However, Management is requiring more information from the business consultant
regarding the Sales and Marketing (S&M) module. This module within ERP is regarded as the module with the most interfaces
to other modules. Thus, Management is asking the consultant to describe the interfaces between the S&M module and each of
the other major modules: Financial Accounting, Production Planning, Materials Management, and Human Resources [ie what
information is shared between modules]. Management wants to know how the S&M module could contribute to overall
productivity. Management needs to be familiar with the type of information the S&M module generates for decision-making.
Since ERPPLAN has several customers throughout the Philippines, as well as from some countries in Southeast Asia,
Management would like to know if an Online Ordering System and a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) System will add
value to its operations. What are the advantages and disadvantages of these two customer-focused technologies? Will these
technologies lessen the number of customer complaints? Will the revenues increase? What about the impact on profitability?
Will you recommend an ERP implementation? Why or why not?
