Introduction
Why do you think the Philippines remains a third world country despite of its rich
natural resources?
Preliminary Activity:
TASK 1. LEND ME YOUR EAR
Watch a music video entitled “Upuan” by Gloc – 9. The material can be
downloaded from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvWVfYwpMD0
1. According to the song, what does Upuan symbolize?
2. Does the song reflect the current situation of our society? Cite lines as your
proof.
Activity:
Watch the film “On the Job” by Erik Matti. Before the movie rolls, listen to your
teacher as he reads the short introduction from the text box so you will gain little
background about the film.

Analysis:
TASK 3. PEN AND PAPER
Your class will be divided into six groups. Using a marker and a manila paper,
show your answers to the following questions. Then, select 2 representatives from your
group to present your output.
Group 1 A) Using a Venn Diagram, compare and contrast the characters “Tatang”
(Joel Torre) and “Daniel” (Gerald Anderson).
Group 2 A) What did you like about Francis’s (Piolo Pascual) character? Give one
and elaborate.
B) Think of a reason why he was murdered by the hitman?
Group 3 A) Why did Tatang kill Daniel on the latter part? Justify your answer.
B) If you were Tatang, would you do the same thing? Why?
Group 4 A) Name some of the personalities who were killed by Tatang and Daniel?
B) Why were those people on the list of their victims?
Group 5 A) How was corruption depicted in the movie? Cite 2 scenes and explain.
B) How will you describe “Tatang” as a father? Is the quote “the end
doesn’t justify the means” appropriate to be perceived on his actions?

Group 6 A) Did the scenarios in the movie depict the present political situation in
our country? Relate specific events that you heard from the news.
B) After watching the movie, do you think extra judicial killings should be
blamed to the PNP and to our government? Defend your answer.

TASK 6. CORRUPTON BUSTER
The class will be divided into 6 groups. Each group will produce a 5-minute
short film that shows your stand against corruption. Your teacher will provide you
with the format of the title. Upload your videos in YouTube. You will be given 1
week to invite your friends to view it. 10% of their grade will be from the number of
views. The judging rubric is included below.
