100 m, so the masthead light shall be visible for a range of 6 miles according to COLREGS.

II. A ship's water tank is in the shape of a pentagonal prism whose base edge is 1 m. and has a
height of 10 m. To avoid shortage of fuel, the captain wants to know the exact quantity of the
tank, hence, he requested the volume to be solved. Since the tank is already old the captain
wants it to be repainted. How many gallons of paint needed if only the exposed part of the tank
is to be repainted? Take note that one gallon of paint can cover 3 square meters.

III. A chemical parcel tanker is carrying 8 full cylindrical tanks of ethanol. Each tank has a
horizontal height of 20 ft and a base radius of 1 m. If only the lateral surface needs painting,
how much area is to be painted? What is the total volume of all the tanks?

V. A barrel of crude oil contains about 9.63 ft3 of oil. What is the volume of oil contained in 1.5
mile of a pipeline that has an inside diameter of 6 inches and it is completely filled with oil?
