A. Type of Terminal Requirement: Research Proposal

B. Abstract:

The goal of this study is to see how successful gamification is at improving

the mathematical competency of 31 pupils of Grade Three students at

Domingo M. Isabedra Memorial Elementary School in San Antonio,

Quezon. The study employs a descriptive and correlation approach. The

researcher will use a self-created lesson plan that includes activities that

include comparing different fractions, arranging dissimilar fractions, and

equivalent fractions. The information will be obtained meticulously and

counted, categorized, and calculated. In this study, statistical metrics

such as frequency, percentage, rank and paired t-test will be used.

C. State the Objectives of the study:

This study aims to enhance the mathematical ability of the pupils through

gamification:

1. What are the distinct features of teaching fractions using games?

2. how many games will be integrated in teaching the following

lesson:

a. comparing different fractions

b. arranging dissimilar fractions,

c. equivalent fractions

3. What is the performance of the pupils in each lesson before and

after the intervention?

4. What other learning activities may be prepared to improve and

enrich mathematical knowledge of grade three pupils?

D. Hypothesis Testing

1. Research Question: Is there a significant difference between the

performance of grade 3 pupils in each lesson before and after the

intervention?

2. State the Hypothesis:

a. Null Hypothesis: There is no significant difference between the

performance of grade 3 pupils in each lesson before and after the

intervention

b. Alternative Hypothesis: There is a significant difference between the

performance of grade 3 pupils in each lesson before and after the

intervention

3. Select Appropriate Test (Assumptions)

a. Sampling Technique - There was no sampling method utilized

because the data was obtained from the whole population.

b. Level of measurement - The measurement level is suitable since

there is one independent categorical variable with two levels (Time

1 pre-test, Time 2-post test).

c. Related Pairs - Both sets of data were collected from the same

respondents and may be classified as independent (x) and

dependent variables (y).

d. Independence of observations - The observations that make up the

information are thought to be independent of each other, and no

further monitoring or measurement may thus be influenced.

e. Normality - The result from Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk

shows that the data breached normalcy assumptions and hence

had a greater value than 0.05

f. Homogeneity - The samples are drawn from a population with

equal variances.

g. Final Decision on the Appropriate Test: In order to answer this study

topic, parametric testing will be employed.

4. Select Alpha Level: (P≤.05)P≤.05)

5. Decision Rule: Accept alternative hypothesis if p value is less than or equal

to.05 (There is a significant difference).

Accept the null hypothesis if the p value is larger than.05 (There is no

significant difference).

6. Run the Test:

7. Conclusion:
