ABSTRACT

Swear words and taboo words can intensify what is said, but they can shock or give
offence. Swearing and the use of taboo words and expressions is quite common in speaking. We
often hear and use it both in private and in public settings and in films, on television and on the
radio. The use of taboo expressions suggests that speakers have, or wish to have, a close personal
relationship with others. We also use taboo expressions and swear words when we express strong
feelings, or when we wish to threaten or to be unpleasant to others.

Analyses of recorded conversations reveal that an average of roughly 80–90 words that a
person speaks each day – 0.5% to 0.7% of all words – are swear words, with usage varying from
0% to 3.4%. Swearing has become a part of our everyday conversations, but when a person use
profanity as an insult to each other it becomes a bad habit to people especially to teenagers, 46
percent of surveyed teen ages 13 to 17 used profanity at least several times a week or daily,
while 28 percent said they heard their parents cursing a few times a week or on a daily basis.

This study aims for everyone especially to teenagers, in such a way that teenagers will
lessen saying inappropriate words each and every day. The main material of the product will be
Arduino Nano as an programmable platform and easy-to-use hardware and software.

After one month of trial and error,
the product successfully shocked the user at
the exact moment they say the bad words.
The user begin to changed its action and
became more disciplined and well-being, it
helps the user to teach its self and avoid
saying inappropriate words towards to
public. The product proves that it can
change the user’s personality and habits to
become aware to their words when speaking
to someone.
The product has a huge improvement
to the user leading to learn and change.
Older studies have shown that using
violence is an alternative way for the
children to learn and have a good effect
when they are facing new people or the
public. It also states that the violence can
change someone’s behavior, mentality,
performance and relationship with other
people. Moreover, once the product got
activated it shock the user at a specific
amount of voltage, then the user will be
more aware and conscious with their words
resulting to their big improvement dealing
with other people.
This study helps the teenager to have
a proper etiquette and monitor themselves
from saying too much bad words. After
different trials, the relative of the user gave
their observation while using the Shock
Wrist as one of the relatives states that is a
good device to teach someone and make
difference of their character.
Based on The Science of Swearing,
“Thus, our data do not indicate that our
culture is getting worse with respect to
swearing. When this question arises, we also
frequently fail to acknowledge the impact of
recently-enacted laws that penalize offensive
language, such as sexual harassment and
discrimination laws. Workplace surveillance
of telephone and email conversations also
curbs our use of taboo language.” According
to their study, that the previous years until
today is not getting worse but becomes more
offensive and harassing. Basically, this
study is to prevent and lessen the use of
swear words more commonly in teenagers.
CONCLUSION:
This study is beneficial for everyone
especially for teenagers. The product can
also help monitor the user’s behavior. This
study itself can change everyone that will
use it to improve their behavior and change
the world not for itself but for the people
you.
RECOMMENDATION:
For future researchers, improve the
product size, as much as possible minimize
the space you use in and out the bracelet and
try to make the product waterproof.
