Standard 1 Artifacts

My first artifact is a lesson plan that I used during my Fall 2022 Elementary Practicum
placement. This lesson focuses on student creativity and movement using Dalcroze’s Eurythmics
methods. In this lesson, you will see students moving, improvising, and reflecting on their
musical decisions. This artifact reflects my ability to lesson plan for the general music setting
and include varied types of pedagogy.

My second artifact is the lesson outline I provided to my beginning trumpet student. It lists
student goals, breaks down practice materials, includes a weekly practice log, and has a weekly
music joke to make learning fun. In my private trumpet lessons, you will see my students
progressing week by week. This artifact reflects my ability to work individually with
instrumentalists and select appropriate literature for their current playing level.

My third artifact is a video from my Spring 2023 Student Teaching placement. This video
showcases my ability to model rhythms for my students on my instrument. This is effective
because it allows me to demonstrate my musical ability for my students to replicate. It also
allows me to conduct quick informal assessments. This artifact reflects my ability to perform and
create as an educator.
