Entry 5 Artifacts

My first artifact is a lesson plan that I created during my undergraduate time at K-State. It is an
elementary music “Present” lesson plan focused on reading music notation and performing
melody. In this lesson plan, you will see the planned steps that I take to introduce this musical
concept. This artifact reflects my ability to utilize concept-based teaching, reading, and critical
thinking skills into my lessons.

My second artifact is a composition a student of mine wrote during the 2022 KSU Virtual
STEAM Academy. For this project, students created a digital musical accompaniment track for a
select movie scene. You will hear the creative influence and connections that this student was
making with their music. This artifact reflects my ability to teach an engaging lesson that utilizes
technology and outside resources.

My third artifact is a video lesson from my Spring 2023 Student Teaching placement. In this
video, students are working on their “Peter and the Wolf” centers. You will see student
collaboration, problem solving, and communication. This artifact reflects my ability to provide
meaningful instruction focused on critical thinking, student collaboration, and authentic learning
experiences.
