Title of Artifact: Class newsletter
• How this example is a good example of professional learning and collaboration.
o In doing the class newsletter assignment, I completed a task that real teachers do
periodically. I learned how to do a task required of the teaching profession. I also
got to work on using and meshing my creative skills with future teaching
responsibility. It also helps us understand how teachers collaborate with their
students’ parents by sending them what they are working on, or will work on, in
class.
• How does this assignment show an understanding of the duties and responsibilities of
teachers?
 o The class newsletter assignment gave me an understanding of the duties of
teachers by tasking me with the job of completing one of the said duties by
making my own newsletter. Creating said newsletter required me to not only
complete a teacher’s task but place myself in the shoes of an actual teacher. I used
what I was observing in the classroom and implemented it into my newsletter.
Placing myself in the position of a teacher and considering what they do in a
month also gave me perspective of everything they do.
• How does this assignment demonstrate communication skills?
o This assignment proves communication skills by having us work on a project that
real teachers do to communicate with their student’s’ parents. As future teachers,
we need to understand all the different groups teachers need to communicate with
as a part of their job. One of the said groups is the parents, and this assignment
helped us understand one of the ways teachers communicate with the parents.

Reflection:
Explain what you gained from completing this assignment/artifact. How will you use this
information in the future?
I think one thing I gained from completing the class newsletter assignment was it required me to
put myself in the place of a real teacher. Creating a class newsletter is a teacher's responsibility,
and we had to include activities we saw in the classroom in our newsletter as if it were our own
class. This assignment forced us to be creative and make something informative and visually
appealing. Another great learning experience that came out of this assignment is learning about
the importance of communication. As future teachers, we need to understand all the separate
groups teachers need to communicate with as a part of their job. One of the said groups is the
parents, and this assignment helped us understand one of the ways teachers communicate with
the parents.
