Unless otherwise noted on a particular problem, you must show your work. Underline your answers to
each problem with a double line. Simplify your answers as far as possible unless otherwise noted. Be
sure to provide units where necessary.

Question 1 (18 points):

Calculate the DC output voltage Vo. All op-amps can be treated as ideal.

Question 2 (25 points):

Solve the below circuit using nodal analysis.

a) Choose an appropriate node as a reference for nodal analysis. Mark it clearly in the circuit
diagram. Give a brief explanation why you chose this particular node.
b) Write down all the KVL and KCL equations that are necessary to solve the below circuit using
nodal analysis. Clearly label all node voltages in the circuit diagram. You do not need to find the
𝑉1 −𝑉2 𝑉1 −𝑉3
final solution. Just write your equations in the form 𝑎
+ 𝑏
… = 𝑧 where a, b … z are
integers. Label each final equation with a Roman number I, II, III, IV… Write down any trivial
node voltages directly.

Question 3 (21 points):

Consider the below circuit in the time domain.

a) Initially switch S1 is in position 1 and switch S2 is closed. This has been the case for a very long
time.
i. What is the current through the 0.02H inductor i?
ii. What is the voltage across the 0.02H inductor vL?
iii. What is the voltage on the 0.5F capacitor vC?
b) At time t=0, S1 is switched to position 2 and S2 is opened. They are switched at exactly the same
time. What is the oscillation frequency in rad/s?
c) Sketch graphs of the following quantities as a function of time around t=0:
i. i
ii. vL
iii. vC

vL
